1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Richmat HJA63 Foot Actuator. This actuator is designed as a replacement component for adjustable bed bases, facilitating the movement of the foot section.
2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect power to the adjustable bed base before attempting any installation, maintenance, or repair.
- Ensure all connections are secure and correct before restoring power.
- Do not attempt to modify the actuator or its components.
- Keep hands and loose clothing clear of moving parts during operation.
- This product is designed for specific adjustable bed base applications. Do not use for unintended purposes.
- Refer to the original bed base manufacturer's manual for additional safety guidelines.

4. Setup and Installation
Installation of the Richmat HJA63 Foot Actuator typically involves replacing an existing actuator. Follow these general steps:
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the adjustable bed base from the wall outlet to ensure no power is supplied during installation.
- Locate Existing Actuator: Identify the foot actuator on your adjustable bed base. It is usually connected to the frame and the moving foot section.
- Disconnect Wiring: Carefully disconnect the electrical cable from the control box or power supply unit. Note the type of connector.
- Remove Mounting Pins/Bolts: Remove the pins or bolts that secure the actuator to the bed frame at both ends. Keep these fasteners for reinstallation.
- Remove Old Actuator: Carefully slide out the old actuator.
- Install New Actuator: Position the new Richmat HJA63 actuator in the same location. Align the mounting holes.
- Secure Mounting Pins/Bolts: Reinsert and secure the mounting pins or bolts at both ends of the actuator. Ensure they are tight but allow for smooth pivot.
- Connect Wiring: Connect the electrical cable of the new actuator to the control box or power supply unit. Ensure the 5-pin connector is fully seated.

Important: Before restoring power, double-check all connections and ensure there are no obstructions around the actuator's path of motion.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the Richmat HJA63 Foot Actuator is correctly installed and connected, its operation is controlled by the adjustable bed base's remote or control panel. The actuator extends and retracts to raise and lower the foot section of the bed.
- Power On: Plug the adjustable bed base back into the wall outlet.
- Test Functionality: Use the bed's remote control to slowly raise and lower the foot section. Observe the actuator's movement to ensure it operates smoothly and without obstruction.
- Duty Cycle: The actuator has a duty cycle of 10%, maximum 2 minutes ON / 18 minutes OFF. This means it should not be operated continuously for more than 2 minutes at a time, and requires an 18-minute rest period to prevent overheating.
6. Maintenance
The Richmat HJA63 Foot Actuator is designed for low maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure its longevity:
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the actuator with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the mounting points and electrical connections for any signs of wear, looseness, or damage.
- Lubrication: The internal components are pre-lubricated and do not require additional lubrication.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your Richmat HJA63 Foot Actuator, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Actuator does not move. | No power; Loose connection; Overload; Remote issue. | Check if bed base is plugged in. Ensure all cables are securely connected. Reduce load on bed. Test with another remote if possible, or check remote batteries. |
| Actuator moves slowly or intermittently. | Low voltage; Overheating; Obstruction. | Ensure stable power supply. Allow actuator to cool down (observe duty cycle). Check for any objects obstructing the actuator's movement. |
| Unusual noise from actuator. | Loose mounting; Internal issue. | Check and tighten mounting pins/bolts. If noise persists and is significant, the actuator may require replacement. |
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact customer support.
