1. Introduction

The Gaoducash Smart Door and Window Sensor provides enhanced home security by detecting the opening and closing of doors and windows. This wireless contact sensor integrates with your home Wi-Fi network, sending instant alerts to your smartphone via the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for convenient voice control and can be programmed for smart home automation scenarios.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 App Download and Account Creation

  1. Download the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

4.2 Device Pairing

  1. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. 5 GHz networks are not supported.
  2. Open the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app.
  3. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
  4. Select "Security & Video Surveillance" > "Contact Sensor (Wi-Fi)" or search for "Door Sensor".
  5. Follow the in-app instructions to put the sensor into pairing mode. This usually involves pressing and holding a button on the sensor until an indicator light flashes.
  6. Confirm the indicator light is flashing rapidly in the app.
  7. Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network password.
  8. Wait for the device to connect. Once connected, you can rename the sensor for easy identification (e.g., "Front Door Sensor").

4.3 Physical Installation

The sensor consists of two parts: a main unit and a smaller magnet unit. These two parts must be installed in close proximity (within 1 cm) on a door or window and its frame.

  1. Choose a Location: Identify a clean, dry surface on your door/window and its frame where the two sensor parts can be aligned.
  2. Clean the Surface: Wipe the installation area with a clean cloth to ensure proper adhesion.
  3. Attach the Main Unit: Peel off the backing from the adhesive tape on the back of the main sensor unit. Press it firmly onto the door or window frame.
  4. Attach the Magnet Unit: Align the magnet unit with the main sensor unit, ensuring they are no more than 1 cm apart when the door/window is closed. Attach the magnet unit to the moving part of the door or window using its adhesive tape or the provided screws.
  5. Test the Installation: Open and close the door/window to verify that the sensor detects the change in status. Check the app for instant notifications.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 App Alerts and Status Monitoring

Once installed and paired, the sensor will send real-time notifications to your smartphone when a door or window is opened or closed.

  • Instant Notifications: Receive push notifications on your phone when the sensor is triggered.
  • Status Record: The app maintains a history of all open/close events, allowing you to review activity logs.
  • Real-time Status: The app displays the current open or closed status of all connected sensors.

5.2 Family Sharing Control

You can share control of the sensor with family members through the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app. This allows multiple users to monitor status and receive notifications.

  1. In the app, navigate to the sensor's settings.
  2. Look for the "Share Device" or "Device Sharing" option.
  3. Follow the prompts to invite other family members by their app account.

6. Smart Home Integration

6.1 Voice Control with Alexa and Google Assistant

The Gaoducash Smart Door and Window Sensor is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing you to check its status using voice commands.

  1. Ensure your Alexa or Google Assistant device is set up and linked to your Smart Life/Tuya Smart account.
  2. Use commands such as:
    • "Alexa, is the front door open?"
    • "Hey Google, what's the status of the living room window?"

6.2 Smart Scene Automation

Leverage the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to create automated routines (smart scenes) based on the sensor's status. This allows the sensor to trigger actions on other compatible smart devices.

  • Lighting Automation: Automatically turn on smart lights when a door is opened.
  • Climate Control: Turn off a smart air conditioner when a window is opened.
  • Security Routines: Trigger other alarms or cameras when a door is opened unexpectedly.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by two AAA batteries. The app will notify you when the battery level is low (≤2.4V).

  1. Gently open the main sensor unit casing.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the casing securely.
  5. Test the sensor to confirm it is functioning correctly.

7.2 Cleaning

Wipe the sensor units with a dry, soft cloth as needed to remove dust or dirt. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Sensor not pairing:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. 5 GHz networks are not supported.
    • Verify that the sensor is in pairing mode (indicator light flashing rapidly).
    • Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.
    • Move the sensor closer to your Wi-Fi router during the pairing process.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and try pairing again.
  • No alerts or incorrect status:
    • Check the battery level in the app and replace batteries if low.
    • Ensure the main unit and magnet unit are installed within 1 cm of each other when the door/window is closed.
    • Verify that your phone has an active internet connection and app notifications are enabled.
    • Check the sensor's connection status in the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app.
  • Weak Wi-Fi signal:
    • The sensor's Wi-Fi range may be limited. Consider relocating the sensor or using a Wi-Fi extender if the distance to the router is significant (e.g., beyond 7 meters).

9. Safety Information

  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Contact support for assistance.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
