Setup Instructions
- Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Initial Charge: Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the bug zapper using the provided USB-C cable. Connect the USB-C cable to the charging port on the unit and plug the other end into a compatible USB power source. The charging indicator will show status (e.g., red for charging, green for full).
- Solar Panel Placement (Optional):
- The main unit has a top solar panel for direct sunlight charging.
- For extended solar charging or flexible placement, connect the external solar panel to the unit.
- Mount the external solar panel in a location that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day. Use the provided ground stake to secure it in soft ground, or mount it on a wall/fence using appropriate hardware (not included). Ensure the 3.5-meter cable reaches the bug zapper unit.
- Positioning the Zapper: Place or hang the bug zapper in an area where insects are prevalent, such as a patio, garden, backyard, or camping site. Ensure it is away from direct human contact, especially children and pets, due to the high-voltage grid.

Operating Instructions
- Power On/Off: Locate the switch button on the unit. Press it to cycle through the modes: UV light (bug zapper), white light (illumination), and Off.
- Selecting Mode:
- For insect control, select the UV light mode. The blue UV light attracts flying insects to the electric grid.
- For general lighting, select the white light mode.
- Light-Sensitive Operation: The unit features a light-sensitive sensor on the top solar panel. In dark conditions, the zapper will automatically activate if switched to an 'On' mode. During daylight or in bright environments, the zapper may not operate to conserve power or if the sensor detects sufficient ambient light.
- Overriding Light Sensor: If you need to operate the bug zapper during the day or in a well-lit area, cover the top solar panel or invert the unit to simulate darkness, allowing the zapping function to activate.

Charging Instructions
The PALONE Solar Bug Zapper offers two convenient charging methods:
- Solar Charging: The unit is equipped with a top solar panel and an optional external solar panel. Place the unit and/or the external panel in direct sunlight. The solar panels will convert sunlight into electricity to recharge the internal battery. Ensure the solar panels are clean and free from obstructions for optimal charging efficiency.
- USB-C Charging: For faster charging or when sunlight is unavailable, use the provided USB-C cable. Connect the cable to the USB-C port on the zapper and to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. A full charge typically takes 2-3 hours.
NOTE: Do not charge the solar panel flat on the ground where temperatures may become excessively high, as this can affect performance or damage the unit.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your bug zapper.
- Power Off: Always turn off the bug zapper and disconnect any charging cables before cleaning.
- Emptying the Tray: The bottom tray collects zapped insects. Rotate the tray counter-clockwise to detach it from the main unit.
- Cleaning the Tray: Use the provided cleaning brush to dislodge any trapped insects from the tray. Rinse the tray with water if necessary, then wipe it dry completely before reattaching.
- Cleaning the Grid: For stubborn debris on the electric grid, use the cleaning brush to gently remove it. Do not use water or wet cloths directly on the electric grid.
- Reassembly: Once the tray is clean and dry, align it with the main unit and rotate clockwise until securely fastened.
- Solar Panel Cleaning: Periodically wipe the solar panels with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt, ensuring maximum charging efficiency.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Zapper not turning on at night. | Insufficient charge; Light sensor detecting light. | Ensure unit is fully charged via USB-C or placed in direct sunlight for several hours. Check if ambient light is preventing activation; cover the top solar panel to test. |
| Zapper not attracting insects effectively. | UV light mode not selected; Unit placed too close to other light sources; Dirty grid. | Ensure UV light mode is active. Move the zapper away from competing light sources. Clean the electric grid and insect tray. |
| Short operating time. | Battery not fully charged; Degraded battery performance. | Charge the unit fully using USB-C. Ensure solar panels are clean and receiving adequate sunlight. If battery life remains short after full charge, contact customer support. |
| Unit makes a clicking sound but no zapping. | Large insect stuck in grid; Grid malfunction. | Turn off the unit and use the cleaning brush to carefully remove any debris from the grid. If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact customer support. |
