4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the appliance for any damage.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, filter basket, and carafe lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine with a damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): To clean the internal components, fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the MAX level. Do not add coffee grounds. Place the empty filter basket and carafe in position. Run a full brewing cycle. Discard the water and repeat this process once more.
- Placement: Place the coffee machine on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
5. Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee:
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the water reservoir lid and fill the reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level using the water level indicator. Do not exceed the MAX (10 cups) mark.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the removable filter basket into the filter basket holder. Insert a paper filter (size 1x4 or similar) or use the permanent filter if provided. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste.
- Position Carafe: Place the glass carafe with its lid securely on the heating plate. Ensure it is correctly positioned to activate the drip stop mechanism.
- Start Brewing: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. Press the On/Off switch. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
- Drip Stop Function: The drip stop function allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup of coffee without drips. Return the carafe to the heating plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow.
- Keep Warm Function: After brewing is complete, the heating plate will automatically switch to a keep-warm mode. This function maintains the coffee's temperature for approximately 30 minutes.
- Automatic Shut-off: The coffee machine will automatically shut off approximately 30 minutes after brewing is complete or after the keep-warm cycle ends.
- Serve: Once brewing is complete and the machine has entered keep-warm mode, you can serve the coffee.
- Turn Off: If you wish to turn off the machine before the automatic shut-off, press the On/Off switch again.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee machine.
- Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Clean Carafe and Filter Basket: Remove the glass carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket. Wash them in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts may also be top-rack dishwasher safe (check product markings).
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect performance. Descale your coffee machine regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, or more often with hard water). Follow the instructions of a commercial descaling solution, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio). Run a brew cycle with the descaling solution, then run several cycles with fresh water to rinse thoroughly.
- Storage: When not in use, ensure the machine is clean and dry. Store the power cord in the integrated cable storage compartment.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee does not brew. | Machine not plugged in; power switch off; no water in reservoir. | Ensure plug is firmly in outlet; turn on power switch; fill water reservoir. |
| Coffee is too weak or too strong. | Incorrect coffee-to-water ratio; coffee grind size. | Adjust the amount of coffee grounds; use a medium grind for filter coffee. |
| Water overflows from filter basket. | Too much coffee grounds; filter basket not seated correctly; carafe not on heating plate; machine needs descaling. | Reduce coffee grounds; ensure filter basket is properly seated; place carafe correctly; descale the machine. |
| Coffee is not hot enough. | Machine needs descaling; carafe removed for too long during brewing. | Descale the machine; ensure carafe is returned promptly after pouring. Note that the keep-warm function lasts for approximately 30 minutes before automatic shut-off. |
