1. Important Safety Information

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

1.1 General Safety Precautions

• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, when operating the pruning shears.
• Keep hands and body parts away from the cutting blades. The blades are sharp and can cause severe injury.
• Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders, especially children and pets.
• Do not operate the tool in wet conditions or near flammable liquids or gases.

1.2 Dual Safety Lock System

The JOVANT Electric Pruning Shears are equipped with a dual safety lock system to prevent accidental activation:

• Activation: To activate the shears, press the trigger twice rapidly. This ensures no unintended starts.
• Auto Sleep Mode: The shears will automatically power off after 60 seconds of inactivity to save battery and prevent accidents. To reactivate, press the trigger twice rapidly again.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

To install the battery, align the base of the pruning shears to the channel of the battery pack and slide the battery into the base until you hear a click, indicating it is securely locked.

3.2 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery. Connect the charger adapter to the battery and a power outlet. The LED power display on the battery will indicate the charging status. A fully charged battery will show all indicator lights illuminated.

4. Operation

4.1 Powering On and Activation

1. Ensure the battery is securely installed.
2. Turn on the power switch (refer to Figure 2.2.1, item 8). You may hear a buzzer chirp.
3. Quickly press the trigger twice to activate the blades. The blades will open to the default cutting diameter.

4.2 Adjusting Cutting Diameter

The shears offer adjustable cutting diameters for different branch sizes:

• Default (30mm / 1.2 inch): When activated, the blades open to 30mm.
• Smaller (20mm / 0.8 inch): To switch to a smaller cutting diameter (e.g., 20mm for daily pruning), pull the trigger and hold it for 2 seconds. You will hear a beeping sound, then release the trigger. The blades will now open to the smaller setting.

4.3 Cutting Techniques

Position the branch firmly between the blades. Press the trigger to make a clean cut. Avoid forcing the shears through branches thicker than the maximum cutting diameter (30mm / 1.2 inch). Always cut away from your body and fingers.

4.4 Auto Sleep Mode

If the shears are not used for 60 seconds, they will enter 'standby' mode to conserve battery and enhance safety. To resume operation, quickly press the trigger twice.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Blade Cleaning and Lubrication

Regular cleaning and lubrication of the blades are crucial for optimal performance and longevity. After each use, clean sap and debris from the blades using a cloth. Apply a few drops of lubricating oil (included in the tool kit) to the blades to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.

5.2 Blade Replacement

A replacement blade is included in your package. If the cutting performance diminishes significantly or the blade is damaged, replace it using the tools provided in the kit. Refer to the detailed instructions in the included user manual for the replacement procedure.

5.3 Storage

Store the pruning shears in their original storage box in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Ensure the battery is removed from the tool before storage for extended periods.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Shears Not Activating

• Check Battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly installed.
• Power Switch: Verify the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
• Activation Sequence: Remember to quickly press the trigger twice to activate the blades after turning on the power switch.

6.2 Reduced Cutting Performance

• Blade Sharpness: Inspect the blades for dullness or damage. Replace the blade if necessary.
• Blade Cleanliness: Clean any sap or debris from the blades.
• Lubrication: Apply lubricating oil to the blades to ensure smooth movement.
• Battery Level: A low battery can affect motor performance. Recharge the battery.
