3. Setup
- Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts, including the main unit, reservoir, handle, and tips, are present.
- Place the Unit: Position the Waterflosser Nano on a flat, stable surface near a standard electrical outlet and a sink.
- Fill the Reservoir: Lift the hinged lid of the reservoir. Remove the reservoir from the base. Fill the reservoir with lukewarm water. For optimal results, use warm water. Do not add mouthwash or other solutions to the reservoir unless specifically instructed by a dental professional, as this may damage the unit. Place the reservoir back onto the base and press down firmly to ensure a secure fit.
- Insert a Tip: Select the desired tip and insert it into the hole at the center of the handle until it clicks into place. To remove a tip, press the tip eject button on the handle.
- Plug In: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
4. Operating Instructions
- Initial Prime (First Use): If using for the first time, set the pressure control dial to the highest setting. Direct the tip into the sink. Turn the unit ON. Allow water to flow until it is steady. Turn the unit OFF.
- Adjust Pressure: Turn the pressure control dial on the base to the lowest setting (1) for initial use. Gradually increase the pressure over time to a comfortable level. The Waterflosser Nano offers 3 pressure settings.
- Flossing Technique:
- Lean over the sink and place the tip in your mouth.
- Turn the unit ON.
- Close your lips enough to prevent splashing, but allow water to flow from your mouth into the sink.
- Direct the water stream at a 90-degree angle to your gumline.
- Start with the back teeth and work your way to the front. Glide the tip along the gumline and pause briefly between teeth.
- Continue until you have cleaned the inside and outside of both your upper and lower teeth.
- Turning Off: When finished, turn the unit OFF. Empty any remaining water from the reservoir.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning the Reservoir: The reservoir can be removed and is top-rack dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
- Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner as needed.
- Replacing Tips: Waterpik recommends replacing Classic Jet Tips every 6 months. Other specialized tips may have different replacement schedules.
6. Troubleshooting
If the unit fails to operate, ensure it is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check that the reservoir is correctly seated on the base. If the water flow is weak, ensure the pressure control dial is set to an appropriate level and that the tip is not clogged. For persistent issues, refer to the full Waterpik support resources online.
