Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
The device powers on automatically when connected to a power source. To turn off, disconnect the power supply.
2. Reading the Display
The large 13-inch LCD display shows the real-time decibel level, temperature, and humidity. The refresh rate is 2 times per second for dynamic monitoring.
- Decibel Level: Displayed prominently in large red digits.
- Temperature & Humidity: These values are also shown on the display.
- Level Display Bar: An analog bar on the right side of the screen provides a quick visual indication of noise levels:
- Green bars indicate levels between 30-75dB.
- Red bars indicate levels between 76-130dB.

Figure 6: The meter displaying a decibel reading with the analog level bars. The image highlights the measuring range of 30dB-130dB and the accuracy of ±1.5dB. It also shows the 6-level display bar with green for 30-75dB and red for 76-130dB.
3. Alarm Function
The device features an alarm prompt system. The default alarm threshold upon power-on is 130dB. If the measured sound level exceeds this value, the decibel meter will emit an audible alarm sound and display a visual alert.

Figure 7: The decibel meter displaying an alarm condition. The image illustrates the alarm prompt feature, where an audible and visual alert is triggered when the measured value exceeds the preset threshold, such as the default 130dB.
4. Data Connection (USB Interface)
The meter includes a USB interface for data connection. This allows for potential data logging or real-time monitoring on a computer, depending on compatible software (software not included, refer to manufacturer's website for availability).

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the meter in a cool, dry place within the specified storage temperature and humidity ranges (-10-60℃, max 70% RH).
- Sensor Care: Handle the external sensor with care to avoid damage. Keep it free from dust and moisture.
- Avoid Impact: Protect the device from strong impacts or vibrations, which can affect its accuracy and functionality.
- Heat Dissipation: Ensure the heat dissipation vents on the back panel are not obstructed to maintain optimal performance and longevity.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Walfront TA654B Decibel Meter, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Display/Device Not Powering On:
- Ensure the Micro USB cable is securely connected to both the meter and a functional DC5V 1A power source.
- Verify the power adapter or USB port is supplying power.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Check if the external sensor is properly connected and undamaged.
- Ensure the sensor is not obstructed or covered.
- Avoid placing the meter in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations or high electromagnetic interference.
- The accuracy is ±1.5dB (subject to standard sound source, 94dB at 1KHz). Readings outside this might indicate an issue or environmental factor.
- Alarm Not Triggering:
- Confirm that the sound level exceeds the set alarm threshold. The default is 130dB.
- Check if the alarm function is enabled (if adjustable, though the manual implies it's always active when threshold is met).
- "Hi" or "Lo" Displayed:
- "Hi" indicates the measured sound level is above the maximum measurable range (130dB).
- "Lo" indicates the measured sound level is below the minimum measurable range (30dB).
If the problem persists, please contact Walfront customer support.
