3. Assembly Instructions
This kit requires soldering. Ensure you have appropriate soldering equipment (soldering iron, solder, desoldering braid, safety glasses) and a well-ventilated workspace. Refer to the circuit diagram and component placement guides provided.
3.1 Component Soldering Sequence
- Resistors: Solder all resistors (R1-R6) onto the PCB according to their marked values and positions. Trim excess leads.
- Diodes: Solder the diodes (D1-D6) ensuring correct polarity (band on diode matches band on PCB silkscreen). Trim excess leads.
- Capacitors: Solder the ceramic capacitors (C1-C3) and then the electrolytic capacitors (C4-C6), observing polarity for electrolytic capacitors (longer lead is positive, marked side on PCB is negative). Trim excess leads.
- IC Sockets: Solder the IC sockets (for U1, U2) onto the PCB. Ensure the notch on the socket aligns with the notch on the PCB silkscreen.
- Potentiometers: Solder the potentiometers (P1, P2) for voltage and frequency adjustment.
- Buzzer: Solder the buzzer onto the PCB, observing polarity.
- Terminal Blocks: Solder the blue terminal blocks for power output, signal output, and logic pen input.
- Digital Voltmeter: Solder the header pins onto the digital voltmeter module, then insert the module into its designated socket on the main PCB.
- LM317 Voltage Regulator: Attach the LM317 IC to its heatsink using the provided screw and nut. Solder the LM317 with heatsink onto the PCB.
- Transformer: Connect the 110V input wires from the power cable to the primary side of the transformer. Connect the 12V output wires from the transformer to the designated input points on the PCB. Solder these connections securely.
- Power Switch: Solder the power switch onto the PCB.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power/Display: Check all power connections, ensure the power switch is ON, and verify the transformer is correctly wired. Inspect for cold solder joints or short circuits.
- Voltage Regulation Issues: If the voltage cannot be adjusted or the range is small, check the potentiometer connections and the LM317 IC for proper installation and soldering.
- No Signal Output/Logic Pen Malfunction: Verify the connections for the signal generator and logic pen. Ensure the relevant ICs (e.g., CD4069) are correctly inserted into their sockets and soldered.
- Buzzer Not Working: Check the buzzer's polarity and connections. Ensure the signal input is correctly applied for testing.
