4. Setup and Installation

Installation of the EMBATHER shower filter is designed to be quick and easy, requiring no special tools or plumbing expertise. Follow these steps:

1. Prepare the Filter: Before installation, run water through the filter (both directions) for approximately 20 seconds to flush out any loose carbon particles. Some black residue may appear, which is normal.
2. Remove Existing Shower Head: Unscrew your current shower head from the shower arm.
3. Apply Teflon Tape: Wrap the included Teflon tape (5-8 layers) clockwise around the threads of the shower arm.
4. Attach Filter: Screw the EMBATHER shower filter onto the shower arm. Ensure a waterproof washer is in place. Hand-tighten firmly.
5. Reattach Shower Head: Screw your shower head onto the bottom of the EMBATHER filter. Ensure a waterproof washer is in place. Hand-tighten firmly.
6. Check for Leaks: Turn on the water and check for any leaks. If leaks occur, tighten connections further or reapply Teflon tape.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the EMBATHER 20 Stage Shower Filter operates automatically. Water flows through the multi-stage filtration system as you shower, providing purified water. No further action is required during use.

6. Maintenance

Regular cartridge replacement is essential to maintain the effectiveness of your EMBATHER shower filter. Each cartridge is designed to filter approximately 12,000 gallons of water, which typically lasts for 6 to 8 months for a family of four, depending on water quality and usage.

• Cartridge Replacement: To replace the cartridge, unscrew the filter housing, remove the old cartridge, and insert a new one. Ensure the new cartridge is oriented correctly (refer to Figure 6, Step 1).
• Flushing New Cartridge: After replacing the cartridge, flush the filter with water for about 20 seconds before reattaching your shower head to remove any loose media particles.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your EMBATHER shower filter, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Reduced Water Pressure: While the filter is designed to maintain or increase pressure, significant reduction might indicate a clogged cartridge. Replace the filter cartridge if it's nearing the end of its lifespan. Ensure all connections are tight and not obstructing water flow.
• Initial Black Water: It is normal for some black water to come out during the first few seconds of use after installation or cartridge replacement. This is typically activated carbon dust and will clear quickly. Flush the filter thoroughly before first use.
• Leaking Connections: If water leaks from the connections, ensure that Teflon tape is applied correctly and sufficiently (5-8 layers) and that all parts are hand-tightened firmly. Check that waterproof washers are properly seated.
• Unusual Noise: Some users may experience a slight humming or whistling sound. This can sometimes be resolved by adjusting the water flow rate or ensuring the filter is securely tightened. If the noise persists and is disruptive, re-check installation steps.
