2. Safety Information
It is crucial to adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of your smoke detector. This device is designed for residential use and should not be used as a substitute for local fire safety regulations.
- Do not paint the smoke detector. Paint can block the smoke sensing chambers and prevent the alarm from operating correctly.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the device. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and opening the unit will void the warranty.
- The battery is sealed and non-replaceable. Do not attempt to replace the battery.
- Regularly test the smoke detector as instructed in this manual to ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Ensure the alarm is installed in accordance with local building codes and regulations.
- This smoke detector is certified to EN 14604 standards, ensuring its reliability and performance.

- Test/Silence Button: Press to test the alarm or silence a false alarm.
- LED Indicator: Provides visual status of the detector (green for normal operation, red for alarm/fault).
5. Installation
5.1 Choosing the Right Location:
For optimal protection, install smoke detectors in all sleeping areas and on every level of your home, including the basement. Consider placing additional detectors in living rooms, dining rooms, and hallways. Avoid installing in:
- Kitchens, bathrooms, or garages where cooking fumes, steam, or exhaust can cause false alarms.
- Near windows, doors, or vents where drafts might interfere with smoke detection.
- In extremely dusty, dirty, or insect-infested areas.
- Within 15 cm of a wall or corner if mounted on the ceiling.

5.2 Mounting the Detector:
The CPVAN FSI-3001 offers two installation methods: magnetic mounting or screw mounting.
Method 1: Magnetic Mounting (Recommended for ease of removal)
- Ensure the mounting surface (ceiling or wall) is clean and dry.
- Peel off the protective film from one side of the adhesive magnetic disc and attach it firmly to the back of the smoke detector.
- Peel off the protective film from the other side of the adhesive magnetic disc and attach it to the desired installation spot on the ceiling or wall. Press firmly for 30 seconds to ensure good adhesion.
- Align the smoke detector with the magnetic disc on the ceiling/wall and allow the magnets to connect.
Method 2: Screw Mounting (Recommended for permanent and secure installation)
- Choose a suitable location for installation.
- Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the two drilling points on the ceiling or wall.
- Drill two holes at the marked points. Insert the wall plugs (anchors) into the drilled holes.
- Align the mounting bracket with the holes and secure it to the ceiling/wall using the provided screws.
- Attach the smoke detector to the mounting bracket by aligning the notches and twisting clockwise until it locks securely into place.

5.3 Interconnection Setup:
CPVAN FSI-3001 detectors are pre-linked at the factory. If you purchase multiple units, they should already be interconnected. To verify or re-establish interconnection:
- Ensure all detectors are powered on.
- Press the Test/Silence button on one detector. All interconnected detectors should sound the alarm within a few seconds.
- If any detector does not sound, refer to the troubleshooting section or consult the detailed instructions for radio connection provided in the full product documentation.
6. Operation
6.1 Initial Activation:
The detector activates automatically once it is securely mounted onto its bracket (either screw-mounted or magnetically attached). The LED indicator will flash green every 600 seconds (10 minutes) to confirm normal operation.
6.2 Testing the Alarm:
Test your smoke detector weekly to ensure it is functioning correctly. To test:
- Press and hold the Test/Silence button on the front of the detector.
- The alarm will sound loudly (approx. 85 dB), and the red LED will flash rapidly.
- Release the button. The alarm will stop.
- If the alarm does not sound during the test, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
6.3 Silencing a False Alarm:
In case of a non-emergency alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm:
- Press the Test/Silence button once.
- The alarm will be silenced for approximately 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, if smoke is still present, the alarm will reactivate.

Image: The low LED flashing feature ensures minimal disturbance during sleep, with the LED flashing every 600 seconds.
7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures your smoke detector remains reliable.
7.1 Cleaning:
- Clean your smoke detector at least once a month.
- Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from the vents and around the casing.
- Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays on the detector, as they can damage the sensor.
7.2 Battery Life and End-of-Life Indication:
The CPVAN FSI-3001 smoke detector is equipped with a sealed 10-year lithium battery. The battery is designed to last the entire lifespan of the detector and is not replaceable.

Image: The CPVAN smoke detector features a 10-year battery for continuous 24/7 protection.
When the detector reaches the end of its 10-year lifespan, it will emit a short chirp every 30-40 seconds, indicating that the unit needs to be replaced. This chirp is distinct from the low battery warning (if applicable for other models) and signifies the end of the product's operational life.
8. Troubleshooting
If your smoke detector is not operating as expected, consult the following table:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Alarm sounds frequently without smoke. | Dust or debris in the sensing chamber; high humidity; cooking fumes; steam. | Clean the detector (see Maintenance); relocate the detector away from sources of steam/fumes; ensure proper ventilation. |
| Alarm does not sound during test. | Detector not properly activated/mounted; unit has reached end of life. | Ensure detector is securely twisted onto its base or magnetically attached; if unit is old, replace it. |
| Detector chirps every 30-40 seconds. | End of product life. | Replace the smoke detector immediately. |
| Interconnected alarms do not all sound. | Interconnection issue; one or more units not functioning. | Verify all units are properly activated; re-test interconnection; replace faulty units. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact CPVAN customer support.
