5.3 Connecting to an Amplifier
This is a passive speaker and requires an external power amplifier. Ensure your amplifier is capable of driving an 8 Ohm load and provides sufficient power (up to 240W) without clipping.
- Connect one end of a speaker cable (included) to either the SpeakON or 1/4-inch input on the rear of the speaker.
- Connect the other end of the speaker cable to the corresponding output on your power amplifier.
- For daisy-chaining multiple speakers, use the 1/4-inch parallel output to connect to the input of another passive speaker. Ensure the total impedance load on your amplifier channel is within its safe operating limits (e.g., two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel result in a 4 Ohm load).

- Turn on your power amplifier.
- Start with the amplifier's volume at its lowest setting.
- Begin playing audio through your connected source (e.g., mixer, media player).
- Gradually increase the amplifier's volume to the desired listening level. Monitor for any distortion or clipping from the amplifier, and reduce volume if necessary.
- Adjust the tone controls on your amplifier or mixer to achieve the desired sound quality.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspection: Periodically check all cables and connections for wear or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
- Grille: Ensure the metal grille is free from dents or obstructions that could affect sound quality or damage the drivers.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound output | Loose cable connections; Amplifier off or muted; Incorrect input selection on amplifier. | Check all speaker cable connections; Ensure amplifier is powered on and not muted; Verify correct input is selected on the amplifier. |
| Distorted sound | Amplifier volume too high (clipping); Speaker overloaded; Damaged speaker driver. | Reduce amplifier volume; Ensure amplifier power matches speaker rating; If distortion persists, contact service personnel. |
| Weak or low volume | Low input signal; Incorrect impedance matching. | Increase source volume; Ensure amplifier output impedance matches speaker impedance (8 Ohms). |
