4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of the circuit breaker and wire terminals:
- Mounting the Circuit Breaker:
Select a suitable location for the circuit breaker, such as a panel or firewall. Ensure the location is dry and protected from direct exposure to elements, although the unit features a waterproof cover. Use the provided screws to securely mount the circuit breaker.

- Preparing Wires and Terminals:
Strip the insulation from the end of your 1/0 AWG battery cable, exposing the copper strands. Select the appropriate copper wire ring lug (3/8" or 5/16" hole) and a piece of heat shrink tubing (black for negative, red for positive).

Figure 4.2: Copper wire terminals featuring anti-corrosion properties, good electrical conductivity, and high heat resistance.
- Crimping the Terminals:
Slide the heat shrink tubing onto the wire first, away from the stripped end. Insert the stripped wire completely into the barrel of the copper lug. Use a suitable crimping tool to securely crimp the lug onto the wire. Ensure a tight connection to prevent resistance and overheating.
- Applying Heat Shrink Tubing:
Position the heat shrink tubing over the crimped joint, ensuring it covers the entire barrel of the lug and extends onto the wire insulation. Use a heat gun to evenly apply heat to the tubing. The tubing will shrink and form a waterproof, insulated seal around the connection. The 3:1 shrink ratio ensures a secure fit.

- Connecting to the Circuit Breaker:
Connect the prepared wire terminals to the appropriate posts on the circuit breaker. Ensure the connections are tight and secure. The circuit breaker acts as both a circuit protector and a battery disconnect switch.
5. Operating Instructions
The RED WOLF 100A Circuit Breaker features a manual reset function and can also serve as a kill switch.
- To Engage (Turn On): Press the red button on the circuit breaker. The lever will move to the "ON" position, allowing current to flow.
- To Disengage (Turn Off/Reset): If an overcurrent condition occurs, the circuit breaker will automatically trip, moving the lever to the "OFF" position. To manually turn off the circuit or reset it after a trip, press the black lever down.
- Kill Switch Function: The manual reset button allows the circuit breaker to be used as a kill switch, providing a convenient way to disconnect power to a system without removing wires.

6. Maintenance
The RED WOLF 100A Circuit Breaker is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the circuit breaker and all connections for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose wiring.
- Waterproof Cover: Ensure the waterproof cover is properly seated to protect the terminals from moisture and rust.
- Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the circuit breaker with a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your RED WOLF 100A Circuit Breaker, consider the following:
- Circuit Breaker Trips Frequently:
- Overload: The connected system may be drawing more than 100 Amps. Reduce the load or verify the current draw of your devices.
- Short Circuit: Check for any short circuits in the wiring or connected components.
- Faulty Component: A component in your system might be faulty, causing excessive current draw.
- No Power to System:
- Breaker Tripped: Check if the circuit breaker lever is in the "OFF" position. Reset it by pressing the lever down.
- Loose Connections: Inspect all wire connections to ensure they are tight and secure.
- Battery Issue: Verify the battery is charged and properly connected.
- Corrosion on Terminals:
- Ensure the waterproof cover is always in place.
- Clean any corrosion with a wire brush and apply dielectric grease to prevent future buildup.
