Operating Instructions

Planting Your Garden (Rye Grass)

  1. Find an area that is easy to clean and waterproof. A kitchen sink with a plug in the drain is recommended.
  2. Open a small hole in the potting mix, then add half a cup of water. Mix well.
  3. Place the soil into the deep terrarium sections. Be sure not to overfill.
  4. Sprinkle your seeds around the soil and then use your finger to gently press the seeds down into the soil.
  5. Once your seeds are set, fill up the mister bottle with water. Gently spray your seeds to water them.
  6. Be sure to water your seeds everyday. After 3-5 days the seeds will begin to germinate.
  7. Once your seeds have germinated, use the rocks to decorate your terrarium. Don't forget to continue to water your plants!

Growing Your Crystals

  1. Open the crystal growing powder and pour each packet into one cup.
  2. With the help of an adult, boil some water. Then have the adult carefully pour the water into the cups. Fill each cup with 90ml boiling water.
  3. Use the mixing spoon to stir each of the mixtures until the powder is completely dissolved. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Once the mixture has cooled to room temperature, add 1 crystal growing rock to each cup. Be sure the rock is able to absorb the color of the liquid to grow its crystals.
  5. Place the trays in a well-ventilated location where they will not be disturbed for 5-7 days. The trays should be placed out of direct sunlight in a location with stable temperatures.
  6. After 5-7 days, carefully pour out the extra liquid from the cups. You can remove your crystals by gently removing them from the trays.
  7. Once dry, carefully remove your crystals from the cups and use a paper towel to remove any excess solution. Place your crystals on the islands of your terrarium!

Maintenance

  • Watering: Continue to gently mist the rye grass daily to ensure it remains hydrated and healthy. Avoid overwatering.
  • Light: Place the terrarium in a location with indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause the terrarium to overheat and harm the plants.
  • Temperature: Maintain a stable room temperature for optimal plant and crystal longevity.
  • Cleaning: If needed, gently wipe the inside of the geodome lid with a soft, damp cloth to remove condensation or dust.
