5. Setup
5.1 Charging Batteries
Before first use, fully charge all drone batteries and the remote controller. The drone comes with 3 modular batteries, each providing approximately 10 minutes of flight time, totaling about 30 minutes with all batteries.
- Connect the USB charging cable to the battery and a 5V/2A USB power adapter (not included).
- The indicator light on the battery will show charging status (refer to battery specific instructions for light behavior).
- Charging time is approximately 60-90 minutes per battery.

Figure 5.1: The three modular batteries included with the drone, providing extended flight time.
5.2 Installing Batteries
- Drone Battery: Slide the charged modular battery into the battery compartment at the rear of the drone until it clicks into place.
- Remote Controller Battery: Open the battery cover on the back of the remote controller and insert 3 AAA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover.
5.3 Propeller Installation
If propellers are not pre-installed or need replacement:
- Match the propellers with the corresponding motor arms (usually marked A and B).
- Securely attach each propeller to its motor shaft using the provided screws and screwdriver. Ensure they are firmly attached but not overtightened.
5.4 App Download and Connection
For FPV (First Person View) and advanced features, download the GoolRC drone app on your smartphone.
- Scan the QR code in the included user manual or search for the app name (e.g., 'GoolRC FPV') in your device's app store.
- Ensure your phone's Wi-Fi is enabled.
- Power on the drone.
- Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the drone's Wi-Fi network (e.g., 'GoolRC-XXXXXX').
- Open the GoolRC app. The drone's camera feed should now be visible.

Figure 5.2: The drone app is compatible with Android 5.0+ and iOS 9.0+ mobile operating systems.
5.5 Calibration
Before each flight, it is recommended to calibrate the drone for stable performance:
- Place the drone on a flat, level surface.
- Turn on the drone, then the remote controller.
- Pair the drone and remote (usually by pushing the left joystick up then down).
- Perform gyroscope calibration by moving both joysticks to the bottom-right corner simultaneously until the drone's lights flash rapidly and then become solid.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Flight Controls
- One-Key Takeoff/Landing: Press the dedicated button on the remote for automatic takeoff or landing.
- Altitude Hold: The drone will automatically maintain its current altitude, making it easier to control.
- Headless Mode: In this mode, the drone's orientation is relative to the pilot, eliminating the need to adjust its position before flying.
- Speed Switch: Toggle between low, medium, and high speeds for different flying environments and skill levels.

Figure 6.1: Key features for beginner-friendly operation, including one-key takeoff/landing, altitude hold, emergency stop, and headless mode.
6.2 Advanced Flight Features
- 360° Flips: Press the 360° flip button and move the right joystick in the desired direction to perform aerial acrobatics.
- Intelligent Follow Mode: The drone can automatically track and follow a designated subject (requires app and GPS signal).
- Gesture Selfie: Perform specific hand gestures in front of the camera to trigger photo or video recording (refer to app instructions for specific gestures).
- Waypoint Flight: Draw a flight path on your smartphone screen, and the drone will automatically follow the designated route.

Figure 6.2: Intelligent Follow Mode ensures the drone tracks you, making you the focus of your aerial footage. Also shows weak signal return and low battery reminder features.

Figure 6.3: Path Flight allows drawing a route for the drone to follow, while Gesture Recognition enables hands-free photo capture.
6.3 Obstacle Avoidance System
The drone features a 360° obstacle avoidance system to prevent collisions. This system enhances automatic camera movement and follow capabilities. If the control signal is interrupted, the drone will automatically return to the takeoff point and land.
Note: The effectiveness of the obstacle avoidance function may be reduced under strong light conditions. For optimal performance, especially indoors, fly in an open space.
7. Camera Operation
The GoolRC drone is equipped with a 1080P HD camera for high-quality aerial photography and videography.
- FPV Transmission: View the live camera feed directly on your smartphone via the GoolRC app.
- Adjustable Angle: The camera angle can be adjusted by 90° for optimal viewing and capture.
- Photo/Video Capture: Use the dedicated buttons on the remote controller or the app interface to take photos (JPEG) or record videos (1080p).

Figure 7.1: The drone features a foldable design and a 1080P HD camera with 90° rotation capability for versatile aerial shots.
8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drone.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the drone body and camera lens. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
- Propeller Inspection: Regularly check propellers for cracks, bends, or damage. Replace any damaged propellers immediately using the spare parts provided.
- Motor Care: Keep motors free from dust and debris. Do not attempt to lubricate the motors.
- Battery Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. For long-term storage, charge batteries to about 50% capacity.
- General Storage: When not in use, fold the drone and store it in its compact carrying case to protect it from dust and physical damage.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your GoolRC drone, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Drone does not respond to remote. | Not paired, low battery, interference. | Ensure drone and remote are powered on and paired. Charge batteries. Fly in an open area away from other 2.4GHz devices. |
| Drone drifts during flight. | Not calibrated, uneven surface at takeoff. | Perform gyroscope calibration on a flat surface. Use trim buttons to adjust flight. |
| Camera feed is choppy or disconnected. | Weak Wi-Fi signal, too far from drone. | Ensure strong Wi-Fi connection. Fly within the recommended Wi-Fi image transmission distance (30-50m). |
| Obstacle avoidance not working effectively. | Strong light interference. | Avoid flying in direct strong sunlight. Test in an open indoor space. |
| Short flight time. | Battery not fully charged, old battery. | Ensure batteries are fully charged. Consider replacing old batteries if performance degrades significantly. |
