Product Overview
Main Unit Controls and Display
The front panel features a 2.4" Full Color TFT LCD Screen, control buttons for power, mode, volume, tuning, and playback, and speaker grilles. The top-loading CD player is located on the top surface.
Remote Control
The included remote control provides convenient access to all functions from a distance.

Setup
Power Connection
The unit can be powered by AC mains or batteries.
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cable to the AC input on the rear of the unit and then to a standard wall outlet (AC 110-230V~50/60Hz).
- Battery Power: For portable use, insert 6 x 1.5V UM-2 (C-size) batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity.
Antenna Setup
Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal DAB+ and FM radio reception. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.
Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Power On/Off: Press the POWER button on the unit or remote control.
- Volume Control: Use the VOL + or VOL - buttons on the unit or remote.
- Mode Selection: Press the MODE button to cycle through available modes: CD, DAB+, FM, Bluetooth, USB, AUX.
CD Playback
- Press MODE to select CD mode.
- Open the CD compartment lid.
- Place a CD (CD/CDR/RW/MP3) with the label side facing up.
- Close the CD compartment lid. The disc will begin playing automatically.
- Use PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP (forward/backward) buttons for control.
- Program Play: In stop mode, press PROG to program up to 20 CD tracks or 99 MP3 tracks.
- Repeat Play: Press REPEAT to repeat current track, all tracks, or a folder (for MP3).
DAB+ Radio Operation
- Press MODE to select DAB+ mode.
- The unit will automatically scan for available DAB+ stations upon first use or if no stations are found.
- Use the TUNE +/- buttons to navigate through the station list.
- Preset Stations: To save a station, press and hold the PRESET button until the display shows "Preset Store". Use TUNE +/- to select a preset number (1-40), then press ENTER to confirm. To recall, press PRESET briefly, then use TUNE +/- to select.
FM Radio Operation
- Press MODE to select FM mode.
- Auto Scan: Press and hold SCAN to automatically scan and save FM stations.
- Manual Tuning: Press TUNE +/- briefly to fine-tune the frequency.
- Preset Stations: Similar to DAB+, save up to 40 FM stations using the PRESET button.
- RDS Function: When available, RDS (Radio Data System) information will be displayed.
Bluetooth Pairing
- Press MODE to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "Bluetooth Pairing" or similar.
- On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
- Select "BBTU-500DAB" from the list.
- Once paired, you can stream audio from your device to the Aiwa BBTU-500DAB/RD.
- The wireless range is approximately 10 meters (33 feet).
USB Playback
- Insert a USB flash drive (up to 64GB) containing MP3 files into the USB port.
- Press MODE to select USB mode.
- The unit will automatically detect and begin playing MP3 files.
- Use playback controls (PLAY/PAUSE, SKIP) as with CD playback.
- Program Play: Program up to 99 MP3 tracks.
Auxiliary Input (AUX-IN)
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the 3.5mm AUX-IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Press MODE to select AUX mode.
- Control playback from your external device.
Alarm Clock and Timer
The unit features a digital clock (24-hour format), dual alarm clock, and an auto-off timer. Refer to the on-screen menu for detailed settings. Alarms can be set to activate CD, radio, or USB playback.
Equalizer Settings
Press the EQ button on the remote control to cycle through preset equalizer modes: FLAT, ROCK, POP, JAZZ, CLASSIC. This adjusts the audio output for different music genres.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaner.
CD Care
- Handle CDs by their edges to avoid fingerprints.
- Store CDs in their cases when not in use.
- Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.
Battery Replacement
When the remote control's range decreases, replace the two AAA/LR03 batteries, ensuring correct polarity. For the main unit, replace the C-size batteries when the unit's performance degrades or it fails to power on.
