3. Setup and Installation
The Olympus Lock Cascade Series Cam Locks are shipped with the body and cylinder pre-assembled for quick installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:
3.1 Preparation
- Ensure the mounting surface (drawer, cabinet door, locker) has a standard 3/4" diameter hole.
- Verify the material thickness is suitable for the 1-3/4" cylinder length (up to 1-7/16" maximum material thickness).

Figure 3: Compatibility and Mounting Hole. This diagram illustrates that the lock is compatible with C8053 or similar disc tumbler locks and mounts in a standard 3/4" diameter hole.
3.2 Installation Steps
- Insert the pre-assembled lock body into the 3/4" diameter mounting hole from the front of the cabinet/drawer.
- From the inside of the cabinet/drawer, slide the eyelet spur washer over the back of the lock cylinder. Ensure the spurs engage with the mounting surface to prevent rotation.
- Thread the fixing nut onto the cylinder and tighten it securely by hand, then with a wrench, ensuring the lock is firmly seated.
- Attach the desired cam (straight or offset) to the back of the cylinder using the cam screw and star washer. Ensure the cam is oriented correctly for your application (e.g., to engage with the cabinet frame when locked).
- Test the lock operation with the key to ensure the cam rotates 90 degrees and engages properly.

4. Operating Instructions
Operating the Olympus Lock Cascade Series 960 Cam Lock is straightforward:
- To Lock: Insert the key into the keyway. Turn the key 90 degrees clockwise (or counter-clockwise, depending on installation) until the cam engages with the cabinet frame or strike plate. Remove the key.
- To Unlock: Insert the correct key into the keyway. Turn the key 90 degrees counter-clockwise (or clockwise) until the cam disengages. The key can be removed in both the locked and unlocked positions.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your cam lock:
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the lock with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lubrication: If the key rotation becomes stiff, apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a specialized lock lubricant into the keyway. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris.
- Inspection: Periodically check the fixing nut and cam screw for tightness. Ensure the cam is not bent or damaged.
- Key Care: Avoid forcing the key if it does not turn easily. Inspect the key for damage or bending.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Key does not insert fully or turns with difficulty. | Debris in keyway, bent key, or lack of lubrication. | Clean keyway with compressed air. Inspect key for damage. Apply graphite lubricant. |
| Lock does not engage/disengage properly. | Loose cam screw, misaligned cam, or obstruction. | Check and tighten cam screw. Verify cam alignment. Remove any obstructions. |
| Lock cylinder rotates in mounting hole. | Fixing nut is loose, or eyelet spur washer not engaged. | Tighten fixing nut. Ensure eyelet spur washer is correctly seated and its spurs are engaged with the material. |
