4. Maintenance
4.1 Water Resistance Care
The NORTH EDGE GAVIA watch is water-resistant to 200 meters (20 BAR), making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving up to 50 meters. However, it is crucial to:
- Do NOT operate buttons underwater. This can compromise the water seal.
- Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any water exposure.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, which can affect seals.
- Rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to saltwater or chlorine, then dry thoroughly.
4.2 Cleaning
To maintain the appearance and longevity of your watch:
- Wipe the watch case and strap with a soft, damp cloth.
- For stainless steel, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.
4.3 Battery
The watch features a low battery reminder. When this indicator appears, it is recommended to replace the battery promptly to ensure continued functionality and prevent potential issues. Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified technician to maintain water resistance.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Digital Display is Dim or Unreadable
If the digital display appears weak or difficult to read, even with the backlight activated:
- Check Battery: A dim display is often an indication of a low battery. Replace the battery as soon as possible.
- Environmental Conditions: Extreme temperatures can affect LCD performance. Allow the watch to return to normal operating temperature.
5.2 Watch Not Responding / Frozen
If the watch becomes unresponsive or appears frozen:
- Soft Reset: Try pressing and holding all buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. If this doesn't work, a battery removal and reinsertion might be necessary (professional service recommended).
- Battery Check: Ensure the battery is not completely depleted.
5.3 Inaccurate Sensor Readings (Altimeter, Barometer, Compass)
If sensor readings seem incorrect:
- Calibration: Ensure all sensors (altimeter, barometer, compass) have been properly calibrated according to the instructions in Section 3. Regular calibration is key for accuracy.
- Environmental Factors: Rapid weather changes can affect barometer and altimeter readings. Magnetic interference can affect the compass.
5.4 Debris Inside Dial / Other Physical Defects
If you notice any debris inside the watch dial or other manufacturing defects upon receipt:
- Do NOT attempt to open the watch. This will void the warranty and may cause further damage.
- Contact Support: Immediately contact NORTH EDGE customer support or the retailer for assistance under warranty.
