KH Alert KH106

KH Alert Carbon Monoxide Detector (Model KH106)

Instruction Manual

1. Important Safety Information

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal. This detector is designed to alert you to the presence of CO gas. Please read and understand all instructions before use.

  • DO NOT block the air inlets or outlets on the device.
  • DO NOT paint the device. Paint can clog the vents and interfere with sensor operation.
  • DO NOT install in areas with high humidity, excessive dust, or direct sunlight.
  • DO NOT use near strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Regularly test the alarm as instructed in the Maintenance section.
  • In case of an alarm, immediately move to fresh air and call emergency services.

2. Product Overview

The KH Alert Model KH106 is a plug-in carbon monoxide detector equipped with advanced sensors for CO levels, temperature, and humidity. It features a clear LCD display and provides sound and light warnings.

3. Setup and Installation

The KH Alert CO Detector is designed for easy plug-and-play installation.

  1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the detector from its packaging.
  2. Remove Protective Film: Peel off any protective film from the LCD screen before use. This ensures clear visibility of the display.
  3. Hand peeling protective film from the detector's screen

  8. Initial Calibration: Upon plugging in, the device will announce "Welcome to use voice carbon monoxide detector" and begin a self-calibration process. The lights (Power, Fault, Alarm) will blink, and the CO PPM reading will count down. This process typically takes a few minutes. Once complete, the Power light will remain green, and the CO PPM will display '0' in a safe environment.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and calibrated, the detector continuously monitors the air for carbon monoxide, temperature, and humidity.

  • Normal Operation: In normal conditions (no CO detected), the Power light will be green, and the LCD will display the current temperature and humidity, with CO PPM showing '0'.
  • Reading the Display:
    • Top: Temperature in Fahrenheit (°F).
    • Middle: Carbon Monoxide concentration in Parts Per Million (PPM).
    • Bottom: Relative Humidity (RH%).
  • Self-Test Function: Press the "SELF-TEST" button to manually check the alarm function. The device will emit a loud alarm sound and flash the alarm light. This confirms the alarm is working correctly.

5. Alarm Conditions and Responses

The detector is designed to alert you when carbon monoxide levels reach dangerous concentrations.

  • CO Alarm Trigger: The alarm will activate when the CO gas concentration reaches >150 PPM.
  • Alarm Indication: The device will emit a loud voice alarm and the red Alarm light will flash.
  • What to Do During an Alarm:
    1. Immediately move to fresh air outdoors or open all doors and windows to ventilate the area.
    2. Do not re-enter the premises until the alarm has stopped and the CO reading returns to '0'.
    3. Call emergency services or your local fire department to report the CO alarm.
    4. Identify and correct the source of the carbon monoxide.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the continued reliability of your CO detector.

  • Weekly Self-Test: Press the "SELF-TEST" button once a week to ensure the alarm function is operational.
  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior of the detector with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. Ensure the air inlets are free from dust and debris.
  • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure no objects are blocking the air inlets or outlets.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KH Alert CO Detector, refer to the following:

  • No Display/No Power:
    • Check if the device is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Test the outlet with another appliance to confirm it has power.
  • Fault Light On (Yellow):
    • This indicates a sensor malfunction or internal error.
    • Unplug the device for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If the fault light persists, the device may need replacement.
  • False Alarms:
    • Ensure the device is not installed near sources of combustion (e.g., stoves, fireplaces) or in areas with high concentrations of other gases that might interfere with the sensor.
    • Ventilate the area and observe the CO PPM reading. If it returns to '0', it might have been a temporary CO spike.
