4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The ANENG Q1 Multimeter requires batteries for operation. Ensure the device is turned off and test leads are disconnected before proceeding.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the multimeter.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert the required batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

4.2 Connecting Test Leads

To perform measurements, connect the test leads to the appropriate input jacks on the multimeter.

  • Insert the black test lead into the 'COM' (Common) jack.
  • For voltage, resistance, continuity, diode, and temperature measurements, insert the red test lead into the 'VΩHz' jack.
  • For current measurements (mA or µA), insert the red test lead into the 'mA' or 'µA' jack, respectively.
  • For high current measurements (A), insert the red test lead into the 'A' jack.

5. Operating Instructions

The ANENG Q1 Multimeter offers various measurement functions. Always ensure the correct function is selected and test leads are connected properly before making any measurements.

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the red power button (①) to turn the multimeter ON or OFF. The device features an auto power-off function to conserve battery life.

5.2 Function Selection

Use the function buttons to select the desired measurement mode:

  • DC/AC Voltage: Press the 'V' button to cycle between DC and AC voltage measurement.
  • Resistance (Ω), Continuity, Diode: Press the 'Ω' button to cycle through these modes.
  • Capacitance (F), Temperature (°C/°F): Press the 'F/°C/°F' button to select.
  • Frequency (Hz), Duty Cycle (%): Press the 'Hz/%' button to select.
  • Non-Contact Voltage (NCV): Press the 'NCV' button to activate.
  • Current (A, mA, µA): Select the appropriate current jack and the multimeter will automatically detect the current type (AC/DC).

5.3 Auto Ranging

The multimeter automatically selects the optimal measurement range for most functions. This simplifies operation and helps prevent incorrect readings.

5.4 Data Hold (HOLD)

Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.

5.5 Maximum Hold (MAX)

Press and hold the 'HOLD' button for more than 2 seconds to activate MAX hold, which displays the maximum measured value. Press and hold again to exit.

5.6 Backlight

The display backlight can be activated for better visibility in low-light conditions. Refer to the specific button for backlight control (often integrated with HOLD or a dedicated light button).

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the multimeter, wipe the case with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the device is off and dry before use.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1. Always use new batteries of the specified type.

6.3 Fuse Replacement

If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Refer to the safety warnings before attempting to replace the fuse. Use only fuses of the specified type and rating.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Display: Check battery installation and charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect Readings: Ensure test leads are correctly connected to the appropriate jacks and the function dial is set to the correct measurement mode. Verify the test leads are not damaged.
  • Current Measurement Not Working: Check the fuse. Replace if blown (refer to Section 6.3). Ensure the red lead is in the correct current input jack.
  • 'OL' or 'OVERLOAD' on Display: The measured value exceeds the selected range. For auto-ranging multimeters, this indicates the value is beyond the maximum measurable limit for that function.
