- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply is disconnected before installation or servicing. This unit is designed for hardwire connection.
- Batch Feed Operation: The disposal operates only when the cover is in place. Never insert hands or other objects into the grind chamber.
- Water Flow: Always run cold water during and after disposal use to flush food particles and prevent clogs.
- Prohibited Items: Do not dispose of glass, metal, plastic, large bones, fibrous materials (e.g., corn husks, artichokes), or harsh chemicals.
- Septic Systems: This disposal is septic-safe for properly maintained septic systems. Consult a professional if unsure.

4. Setup and Installation
The InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control is designed for easy installation with its EZ Connect features. This model is intended for hardwire connection.
4.1. What's Included

4.2. EZ Connect Hardwire Installation
This disposal comes with an EZ Connect Hardwire Adaptor for simplified hardwire connections. Ensure power is off at the circuit breaker before proceeding.

- Prepare Wiring: Identify the Romex or BX cable coming from the wall. The live wire is typically black, ground is green or bare, and neutral is white.
- Connect Wires: Match the cable wire colors to the corresponding colors noted on the hardwire adapter. Insert and push to lock each wire securely.
- Secure Adapter: Bend the connector 90 degrees and snap it onto the terminal plate cover.
- Attach to Disposal: Insert the EZ Connect terminal plate cover into the cutout on the bottom of the disposal. Push it forward to connect power and tighten the screw to secure.
4.3. Lift & Latch Technology
The Lift & Latch technology simplifies the sink connection process, allowing for hassle-free installation of the disposal unit to the sink flange.

4.4. EZ Removable Dishwasher Inlet Plug
If connecting a dishwasher, the inlet plug can be easily removed using the included wrenchette. This feature simplifies the plumbing connection for dishwashers.
5. Operating Instructions
The InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control operates using a magnetic CoverStart switch, ensuring safe and convenient use.

- Turn on Cold Water: Always turn on a medium stream of cold water before and during disposal operation.
- Insert Food Waste: Scrape food waste into the sink opening.
- Activate Disposal: Place the Cover Control stopper into the sink opening and push down firmly, then turn to activate the disposal. The unit will only operate when the stopper is correctly positioned and engaged.
- Continue Grinding: Keep the cold water running and the stopper engaged until grinding sounds cease and only the sound of water is heard.
- Turn Off: Turn off the disposal by disengaging the stopper (lift or turn to off position), then turn off the cold water.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your garbage disposal.
- Clean Regularly: To clean the disposal, grind small bones or ice cubes to scour the grind chamber. Follow with a citrus peel for a fresh scent.
- Avoid Grease: Never pour grease or oil down the drain, as it can solidify and cause clogs.
- Clear Jams: If the disposal jams, turn off the power immediately. Use the included wrenchette to clear the jam from the bottom center hole of the disposal. Never use your hand.
