Pre-Installation Checklist

Removing Old Disposal (if applicable)

  1. Disconnect the power to the old disposal at the circuit breaker.
  2. Disconnect the drain lines from the old disposal.
  3. Support the disposal and twist the mounting ring counter-clockwise to detach it from the sink flange. Carefully lower and remove the old unit.

Installing New Disposal

  1. Mounting Assembly: If replacing an existing InSinkErator unit, the existing mounting assembly may be compatible. Otherwise, install the new sink flange assembly according to the detailed instructions in the provided manual. The Lift and Latch technology simplifies this process.
  2. Electrical Connection: This unit features an EZ Connect Hardwire Adapter. Connect the household electrical wires to the adapter: black (live) to black, white (neutral) to white, and green/bare (ground) to green. Secure the connections.

  4. Dishwasher Connection: If connecting a dishwasher, remove the EZ Removable Dishwasher Inlet Plug using the included wrenchette. Connect the dishwasher drain hose to the inlet.
  5. Drain Connection: Attach the discharge tube assembly to the disposal. Connect the disposal to the household drain lines, ensuring all connections are tight and leak-free.
  6. Attach Disposal to Mounting Assembly: Lift the disposal and align the three mounting tabs on the disposal with the mounting ring. Twist the disposal clockwise until it locks securely into place.

6. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your InSinkErator garbage disposal:

  1. Remove the sink stopper.
  2. Turn on a medium stream of cold water.
  3. Turn on the disposal switch.
  4. Slowly feed food waste into the disposal opening. Do not overload the unit.
  5. Allow the disposal and water to run for a few seconds after grinding is complete to ensure all waste is flushed through the drain.
  6. Turn off the disposal switch, then turn off the water.
