1. Product Overview

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Read all instructions thoroughly before installing or using this appliance. Failure to follow these instructions could result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

• DANGER: Electrical Shock Hazard. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.
• WARNING: Personal Injury. Never put hands, fingers, or any other body parts into the garbage disposal. Always use a stopper or a long-handled utensil to push food into the disposer.
• Always turn off the power switch before attempting to clear a jam or remove an object from the disposer.
• Do not dispose of non-food items, large bones, corn husks, artichokes, or other fibrous materials that can cause jams or damage the unit.
• This appliance must be properly grounded.

5. Setup & Installation

Pre-Installation Checklist

• Ensure power to the disposal circuit is turned OFF at the breaker panel before beginning installation.
• Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, pliers, safety glasses, and a flashlight.
• Verify all included components are present (refer to Section 3).

Removing Old Disposal (if applicable)

1. Disconnect the power to the old disposal at the circuit breaker.
2. Disconnect the drain lines from the old disposal.
3. Support the disposal and twist the mounting ring counter-clockwise to detach it from the sink flange. Carefully lower and remove the old unit.

Installing New Disposal

1. Mounting Assembly: If replacing an existing InSinkErator unit, the existing mounting assembly may be compatible. Otherwise, install the new sink flange assembly according to the detailed instructions in the provided manual. The Lift and Latch technology simplifies this process.
2. Electrical Connection: This unit features an EZ Connect Hardwire Adapter. Connect the household electrical wires to the adapter: black (live) to black, white (neutral) to white, and green/bare (ground) to green. Secure the connections.

3. Dishwasher Connection: If connecting a dishwasher, remove the EZ Removable Dishwasher Inlet Plug using the included wrenchette. Connect the dishwasher drain hose to the inlet.
4. Drain Connection: Attach the discharge tube assembly to the disposal. Connect the disposal to the household drain lines, ensuring all connections are tight and leak-free.
5. Attach Disposal to Mounting Assembly: Lift the disposal and align the three mounting tabs on the disposal with the mounting ring. Twist the disposal clockwise until it locks securely into place.

6. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your InSinkErator garbage disposal:

1. Remove the sink stopper.
2. Turn on a medium stream of cold water.
3. Turn on the disposal switch.
4. Slowly feed food waste into the disposal opening. Do not overload the unit.
5. Allow the disposal and water to run for a few seconds after grinding is complete to ensure all waste is flushed through the drain.
6. Turn off the disposal switch, then turn off the water.

7. Maintenance

Cleaning

• Regularly flush the disposal with cold water after use to prevent food particles from accumulating.
• For a deeper clean, grind a few ice cubes followed by citrus peels (lemon, orange, lime) to freshen the disposal and remove odors.

Odor Removal

• If odors persist, try pouring a small amount of baking soda into the disposal, let it sit for a few minutes, then flush with cold water while running the disposal.

Clearing Jams

• If the disposal hums but does not grind, it may be jammed. Immediately turn off the power switch.
• Insert the wrenchette (included with your disposal) into the center hole on the bottom of the disposal. Rotate it back and forth until the jam is freed.
• If you do not have the wrenchette, use a wooden spoon or broom handle to dislodge the object from the grinding chamber. NEVER use your hands.
• Once the jam is cleared, press the red reset button on the bottom of the disposal. Turn the power back on and test the unit.
