Setup

Before operating your Generac GP8000E generator, ensure proper assembly and initial setup. This typically involves attaching the wheels and handles, adding engine oil, and fueling the unit.

Initial Assembly:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the generator and all components from the packaging.
  2. Wheel Installation: Attach the heavy-duty wheels to the generator frame using the provided hardware. Ensure they are securely fastened for stability and mobility.
  3. Handle Assembly: Install the fold-down handle. This handle aids in transporting the unit.
  4. Add Engine Oil: Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick. Add the recommended type and amount of engine oil as specified in the owner's manual. Do not overfill.
  5. Fueling: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. The tank has a 7.9-gallon capacity. Use the built-in fuel gauge to monitor levels.
  6. Battery Connection: Connect the battery for the electric start feature. The battery is included and should be charged for optimal performance.

Operating Instructions

Always operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from windows and doors, to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Ensure the generator is on a level surface.

Starting the Generator:

  1. Fuel Valve: Open the fuel valve.
  2. Choke: If starting a cold engine, apply the choke.
  3. Electric Start: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'START' position. Hold until the engine starts.
  4. Manual Pull Start: If the electric start battery is low or as an alternative, firmly pull the recoil start cord until the engine starts.
  5. Choke Adjustment: Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the 'RUN' position.
