Model: CMM-30BB

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Clarion CMM-30BB Hideaway Marine Source Unit. The CMM-30BB is designed for concealed installations, offering high-performance audio capabilities for marine environments while integrating seamlessly with NMEA 2000® MFDs or optional wired remote controllers.

2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the unit and vessel:

  • Ensure all power is disconnected before installation or maintenance.
  • Properly insulate all wiring connections to prevent short circuits.
  • Mount the unit in a location that is protected from direct water exposure, excessive heat, and vibration, unless specified otherwise for marine-grade components.
  • Use only specified fuses and wiring gauges.
  • Consult a qualified marine electronics technician for complex installations.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present before beginning installation:

4.2 Wiring Connections

Carefully connect all wiring harnesses as described below. Refer to the wiring diagrams for detailed pinouts (not provided in this manual, refer to full product manual for diagrams).

  • Power Connection: Connect the main power and ground wires to the vessel's electrical system, ensuring proper fusing.
  • Speaker Outputs: Connect your marine speakers to the designated speaker output wires. The unit provides 100 watts (25W RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms) to two main zones.
  • RCA Outputs: Utilize the 8-channel RCA outputs for connecting external amplifiers or additional audio zones.
  • NMEA 2000® Connection: For integration with compatible Multi-Function Displays (MFDs), connect the NMEA 2000® cable to your vessel's NMEA 2000® network. This allows control of the CMM-30BB directly from your MFD.
  • Remote Connection: Connect optional wired remote controllers (CMR-10, CMR-20, CMR-30) for flexible control up to 75 ft away.
  • USB Input: Connect USB devices for audio playback and charging.
  • Auxiliary Input: Connect external audio sources via the analog auxiliary input.
