Manual Cleaning and Descaling

The ice maker features a detachable top for easier access during manual cleaning or descaling.

  1. Unplug the appliance and remove the ice basket.

  3. Wipe down all accessible interior surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild detergent solution. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. For descaling, use a solution of water and white vinegar or a commercial descaling agent according to product instructions. Run a cleaning cycle with the descaling solution, then rinse thoroughly by running several cycles with clean water.
  5. Ensure all parts are dry before reassembling and storing.

Hard Water Considerations

Hard water can lead to mineral buildup, affecting ice maker performance. Descaling frequency depends on water hardness in your area.

Map of US showing water hardness levels and recommended descaling frequency

Image: A map of the United States indicating regional water hardness levels. It recommends descaling monthly in moderately hard water areas and every two to three weeks in hard to very hard water areas, based on calcium carbonate concentration.

  • Moderately Hard Water (61-120mg/L): Descale monthly.
  • Hard to Very Hard Water (121-250mg/L): Descale every two to three weeks.
