Product Overview

Figure 1: SCS Sentinel HCN0076 Meteocolor Weather Station main unit (left) and wireless outdoor sensor (right). The main unit features a large color display showing barometric pressure, outdoor and indoor temperature/humidity, time, and moon phase. The outdoor sensor is a compact white unit with a red indicator light.
Main Unit Features:
- Color Display: Provides clear, vibrant readings.
- Barometer: Displays atmospheric pressure in hPa with trend indicator.
- Indoor Temperature & Humidity: Monitors conditions inside your home.
- Outdoor Temperature & Humidity: Receives data from the wireless sensor.
- Time & Date: Automatically synchronized via RCC DCF signal.
- Moon Phase: Displays current moon phase.
- Alarm Function: Customizable alarm setting.
- Power Options: Battery (3x AAA) or AC adapter.
Wireless Outdoor Sensor Features:
- Temperature & Humidity Sensor: Accurately measures outdoor conditions.
- Wireless Transmission: Sends data to the main unit via 433.92 MHz frequency.
- Range: Up to 60 meters (open air).
- Battery Powered: Requires 2x AAA 1.5V batteries.
- Mounting Options: Can be installed on a flat surface or suspended.
Setup
1. Battery Installation
For the Outdoor Sensor:
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the outdoor sensor.
- Insert 2 x AAA 1.5V batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
For the Main Unit:
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit.
- Insert 3 x AAA 1.5V batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Alternatively, connect the provided AC power adapter to the DC 5V port on the main unit and plug it into a wall outlet. The main unit can operate on batteries or AC power. For continuous display illumination, AC power is recommended.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Initial Synchronization
Once both units are powered, the main unit will automatically begin searching for the outdoor sensor signal. This process may take a few minutes. Ensure the outdoor sensor is within range of the main unit during initial setup.
- The outdoor temperature and humidity readings should appear on the main unit's display once synchronization is successful.
- The main unit will also attempt to receive the RCC DCF time signal. This may take several hours, especially in areas with weak signals. You can manually set the time if needed (refer to "Operating Instructions").
3. Sensor Placement
- Place the main unit indoors, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts, which could affect indoor readings.
- Position the outdoor sensor in a shaded, dry location outdoors, protected from direct rain and sunlight. This ensures accurate temperature and humidity readings.
- Avoid placing the sensor near large metal objects, electrical appliances, or thick walls that could interfere with the wireless signal.
- The maximum wireless range is 60 meters in open air. Obstacles like walls and floors will reduce this range.
- Use the included mounting accessories to secure the outdoor sensor if desired.
Operating Instructions
Display Overview:
The color display provides various pieces of information:
- Top Section: Barometric pressure (hPa) and weather trend indicator.
- Middle Left: Outdoor temperature (°C/°F) and humidity (%). Includes trend arrow and channel indicator (CH).
- Middle Right: Indoor temperature (°C/°F) and humidity (%).
- Bottom Section: Current time, moon phase, and date.
Button Functions:
(Assume standard buttons like MODE, UP, DOWN, ALARM, CH/MEM based on typical weather stations)
- MODE/SET: Press to cycle through display modes (e.g., time, alarm). Press and hold to enter setting mode.
- UP/+: Increase values during setting, or view max/min records.
- DOWN/-: Decrease values during setting, or view max/min records.
- ALARM: Press to view alarm time. Press and hold to set alarm.
- CH/MEM: Press to switch between outdoor sensor channels (if multiple sensors are used). Press and hold to manually search for outdoor sensor signal or clear memory.
- SNOOZE/LIGHT: (Often a large button on top/front) Press to activate snooze during alarm, or adjust backlight brightness/turn on backlight (if battery powered).
Setting Time and Date:
If the RCC DCF signal is not received or you wish to set the time manually:
- Press and hold the MODE/SET button until the time display flashes.
- Use the UP/+ or DOWN/- buttons to adjust the hour.
- Press MODE/SET to confirm and move to the minutes. Repeat to set minutes, year, month, and day.
- Press MODE/SET again to exit setting mode.
Setting the Alarm:
- Press the ALARM button once to view the alarm time.
- Press and hold the ALARM button until the alarm hour flashes.
- Use the UP/+ or DOWN/- buttons to adjust the hour.

Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F):
Press the UP/+ button (or a dedicated °C/°F button if present) to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
Barometric Pressure Display:
The weather station displays atmospheric pressure in hPa (hectopascals). The trend arrow indicates whether the pressure is rising, falling, or stable, which helps predict short-term weather changes.
Moon Phase Display:
The moon phase icon automatically updates based on the set date, showing the current phase of the moon.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the main unit and outdoor sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both units when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries at the same time.
- Long-Term Storage: If the weather station will not be used for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display on main unit. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted; AC adapter not connected or faulty. | Check battery polarity and replace if necessary. Ensure AC adapter is securely connected and functional. |
| Outdoor temperature/humidity not displayed or inaccurate. | Outdoor sensor out of range; batteries low in sensor; interference; sensor not synchronized. | Move sensor closer to main unit. Replace sensor batteries. Relocate units away from interference sources. Press and hold CH/MEM button on main unit to re-synchronize. |
| Time/Date incorrect or not setting automatically. | Weak RCC DCF signal; manual setting required. | Place main unit near a window for better signal reception. Manually set time and date (refer to "Operating Instructions"). |
| Inconsistent readings. | Sensor exposed to direct sunlight, rain, or heat sources; poor ventilation. | Relocate outdoor sensor to a shaded, well-ventilated area protected from direct weather elements. |
