Setup Instructions
1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove the safe from its packaging. Inspect the safe for any signs of damage. Ensure all included components are present:
- User Manual
- Mounting Screws
- Fireproof Waterproof Document Bag
- Emergency Keys (3 sets)
- Emergency Battery Box
2. Battery Installation (for Keypad Lock)
Locate the battery compartment, typically on the inside of the safe door or behind the keypad. Insert the required batteries (usually AA, not included) according to the polarity markings. Close the compartment securely.
3. Initial Opening
For first use or if batteries are depleted, use the emergency keys. Insert the main key and auxiliary key into their respective keyholes. Turn both keys simultaneously to open the safe door. If your model includes an emergency battery box, connect it to the external power port to power the keypad temporarily.
4. Installing Removable Shelves
The safe includes two removable and adjustable shelves. To install or adjust, align the shelf clips with the desired slots on the interior side walls of the safe. Ensure the shelves are level and securely seated before placing items on them.

5. Mounting the Safe
The safe is designed for wall mounting to enhance security. Choose a suitable location, preferably a solid wall. Use the provided mounting screws to secure the safe through the pre-drilled holes in the back or bottom of the safe. Ensure the safe is firmly attached to prevent unauthorized removal.
Operating Instructions
1. Unlocking Methods
Your MLJ Security Safe offers multiple unlocking options:
- Key Unlocking: Insert the main key and auxiliary key into their respective keyholes. Turn both keys simultaneously to open.
- Password Unlocking: Enter your 3-8 digit programmable master PIN code on the keypad. The digital LED display will confirm the entry. Once the correct code is entered, turn the handle to open the door.
- Key and Password Unlocking (Safe Mode): This method requires both the main key, auxiliary key, and the correct password for enhanced security.

2. Setting/Changing the Password
To set or change your password:
- With the safe door open, press the internal reset button (usually a small red or green button located on the inside of the door or near the battery compartment).
- The keypad will beep, and the display will indicate it is ready for a new code.
- Enter your new 3-8 digit PIN code, then press '#' or '*' to confirm.
- Test the new code with the door open before closing it.
3. Dual Alarm System
The safe is equipped with a tamper and motion-sensitive alarm system. This alarm will activate under the following conditions:
- Incorrect Code Entry: If an incorrect code is entered repeatedly (typically 3-5 times), the alarm will sound.
- Violent Vibration/Impact: Any significant impact or unauthorized movement of the safe will trigger the alarm.
The alarm sound exceeds 70 decibels. To silence the alarm, enter the correct password or use the emergency keys.

4. Using the Inner Cabinet
The safe features a private inner cabinet for additional security. Access to this cabinet is typically controlled by a separate key or a smaller internal lock. Store highly sensitive items within this cabinet for enhanced protection.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the safe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish. Do not spray cleaning solutions directly onto the keypad or lock mechanisms.
2. Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the keypad is low, or if the keypad becomes unresponsive, replace the batteries immediately. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance. Always replace all batteries at the same time.
3. Key Care
Keep emergency keys in a secure location outside the safe, but easily accessible to you. Do not store them inside the safe. Avoid exposing keys to extreme temperatures or moisture.
