This manual will guide you through the essential steps to set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot your device, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
2. Package Contents
Upon unboxing your MINISFORUM UM790 Pro Mini PC, please verify that all the following items are included:
- 1x UM790 Pro Mini PC
- 1x HDMI Cable
- 1x US Power Adapter
- 1x User Manual (this document)
3. Setup
3.1 Connecting Peripherals
- Power: Connect the US Power Adapter to the DC 19V port on the rear of the Mini PC, then plug the adapter into a working power outlet.
- Display: Connect your monitor(s) using the HDMI 2.1 ports (up to 4K@60Hz) or the USB4 ports (up to 8K@60Hz). The UM790 Pro supports up to four displays simultaneously.
- USB Devices: Connect your keyboard, mouse, and other USB devices to the available USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports or USB4 ports.
- Audio: Connect headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm audio jack on the front panel.
- Network: For wired internet, connect an Ethernet cable to the 2.5G LAN port. For wireless, ensure Wi-Fi is enabled in the operating system.

3.2 Initial Power On
After connecting all necessary peripherals, press the power button located on the front of the device. The system will boot into the pre-installed operating system (OS).
3.3 Driver Updates
It is recommended to update graphics drivers for optimal performance, especially for gaming or demanding applications. The AMD Adrenalin software package can assist with this process, ensuring your AMD Radeon 780M Graphics are running efficiently.
3.4 Internal Component Upgrade (Optional)
The UM790 Pro supports memory and storage upgrades. It features two SODIMM slots for up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and two M.2 2280 PCIe4.0 SSD slots, each supporting up to 2TB. 4. Operating
4.1 Power Management
Use the power button on the front panel for normal power on and off operations. For a hard reset in case of system unresponsiveness, locate the small reset hole on the front panel and gently press it with a paperclip.
4.2 Multi-Display Configuration
The UM790 Pro supports connecting up to four displays simultaneously using its two HDMI 2.1 ports and two USB4 ports. This capability allows for an expanded workspace, ideal for multitasking and professional applications.

4.3 USB4 Features
The two front USB4 ports offer versatile connectivity, providing up to 40Gbps data transfer speeds, 8K@60Hz display output, and support for Power Delivery (PD). This allows a single cable to power compatible mobile displays or charge devices, simplifying your setup.

4.4 Network and Bluetooth Connectivity
The device features Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed wireless internet access, a 2.5G LAN port for stable wired network connections, and Bluetooth 5.2/5.3 for connecting wireless peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and headphones.

4.5 BIOS Settings
Access the graphical BIOS during system startup (typically by pressing DEL or F2) to configure advanced system settings, boot options, and manage hardware. The graphical interface provides an enhanced user experience compared to traditional text-based BIOS.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cooling System
The UM790 Pro features a "Cold Wave 2.0" liquid metal cooling system with an active cooling fan. This innovative system is designed to maintain optimal temperatures for the CPU, RAM, and SSD, reducing noise levels and improving overall performance and stability.

5.2 Cleaning
Regularly clean the exterior of the Mini PC with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure ventilation grilles are free from dust accumulation to maintain efficient cooling. Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the device or spray into openings.
5.3 Software and Driver Updates
Keep your operating system and device drivers updated to ensure system stability, security, and optimal performance. Check the MINISFORUM official website for the latest driver releases and firmware updates.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 No Power
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the Mini PC and a working power outlet.
- Verify the power outlet is functional by testing it with another device.
6.2 No Display Output
- Check all display cable connections (HDMI, USB4) to both the Mini PC and the monitor.
- Ensure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.
- Update graphics drivers if possible (refer to Section 3.3).
6.3 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Connectivity Issues
- Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled in the operating system settings.
- Check for driver updates for the wireless module.
- Minimize physical obstructions between the Mini PC and your wireless router or Bluetooth devices.
- Consider using an external Wi-Fi adapter if signal strength remains poor in challenging environments.
6.4 System Unresponsive
- If the system freezes, press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds to force a shutdown.
- If the system is completely unresponsive, use the small "Reset hole" on the front panel with a paperclip to perform a hard reset.
6.5 Overheating
- Ensure the Mini PC is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Verify that the cooling fan is not obstructed and is operating correctly.
- Regularly clean dust from the ventilation grilles.
