1. Power On/Off and Backlight:

  • To power on, press and hold the central red button.
  • To activate the backlight, briefly press the central red button. The backlight will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds.
  • The device has a power-saving function and will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity.

2. Setting Time and Units:

  • Press the SET button to enter the settings mode.
  • Use ALTI/+ and COMPASS/- buttons to navigate through settings (e.g., time, date, temperature unit, altitude unit).
  • Press SET again to confirm a selection or move to the next setting.
  • The time format can be set to 24-hour. Temperature units can be set to Celsius or Fahrenheit.

3. Altimeter Function:

  • Press the ALTI/+ button to view altitude readings.
  • The measurement range is approximately -700 to 9000 meters (-2300 to 29500 feet).
  • For initial calibration, it is recommended to set the current known altitude. Refer to local maps or GPS for accurate initial altitude.
  • Resolution: Approximately 1 meter (3.3 feet).

4. Barometer Function:

  • The device continuously measures atmospheric pressure.
  • Measurement range: 300mbar to 1100mbar.
  • Resolution: 0.1mbar.
  • Changes in barometric pressure can indicate weather changes.

5. Compass Function:

  • Press the COMPASS/- button to enter compass mode.
  • Hold the device horizontally and rotate it slowly until the reading stabilizes.
  • The display shows 8-directional mode (e.g., N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) and a numerical bearing.
  • Accuracy: ±3°. Resolution: 1°.
  • Perform external magnetic field correction if accuracy is compromised (refer to troubleshooting for details).

6. Thermometer Function:

  • The device displays ambient temperature.
  • Measurement range: -10°C to +60°C (14°F to 140°F).
  • Resolution: 0.1°.
  • Ensure the device is not exposed to direct sunlight or body heat for accurate readings.

7. Weather Forecast:

  • The device forecasts weather conditions for the next 12 to 24 hours.
  • It displays one of four weather icons: Sunny, Partly Sunny, Cloudy, or Rainy.
  • This is a predictive function based on barometric pressure trends and should be used as a general guide.

8. History Record:

  • Press the HISTORY button to access recorded data.
  • The device stores historical altitude and pressure data, allowing you to track changes over time.

Maintenance

  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

1. Inaccurate Compass Readings:

  • Issue: Compass readings are inconsistent or incorrect.
  • Solution: Perform external magnetic field correction. This usually involves rotating the device in a figure-eight pattern or following specific calibration steps outlined in the device's settings menu (accessed via SET button). Ensure you are away from strong magnetic fields (see Safety Precautions).

2. Display Not Working / Device Not Powering On:

  • Issue: Screen is blank or device does not turn on.
  • Solution: Check battery installation. Ensure batteries are fresh and inserted with correct polarity. Replace batteries if necessary.

3. Inaccurate Altimeter Readings:

  • Issue: Altitude readings do not match known values.
  • Solution: Calibrate the altimeter to a known altitude. Altitude readings are also affected by changes in atmospheric pressure, so frequent calibration in changing weather conditions is recommended for precision.
