1. Introduction

The Mokeum SH301 Stud Finder Wall Scanner is an advanced electronic device designed to accurately detect studs, metal objects (such as pipes and rebar), and live AC wires hidden behind various wall materials, floors, and ceilings. This tool is suitable for both professional and non-professional users, providing clear indications through its large LCD display and audible alerts. This manual provides detailed instructions for safe and effective use of your device.

2. Safety Information

• Always exercise caution when drilling or cutting into walls, floors, or ceilings.
• Do not rely solely on the stud finder to locate live electrical wires. Always turn off power to the area you are working on if there is any doubt.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Mokeum SH301 requires one 9V 6F22 type battery (not included). To install the battery:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Push the battery cover latch and slide the cover open.
3. Insert a new 9V 6F22 battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals match the markings inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

The device will display a low battery icon on the LCD when the battery level is low. Replace the battery promptly to ensure accurate operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On and Calibration

To power on the device, press and hold the 'Power Button/Mode Switch Button' for 1-2 seconds. The device will automatically calibrate. Ensure the device is placed flat against the wall surface before calibration is complete to avoid false readings.

5.2 Selecting a Detection Mode

Press the 'Power Button/Mode Switch Button' repeatedly to cycle through the five available detection modes:

• Stud Scan (1/2 inch): Detects wood studs and joists up to 0.5 inches (12mm) deep in drywall.
• Stud Scan (1 inch): Detects wood studs and joists up to 1 inch (25mm) deep in drywall.
• Stud Scan (1.5 inch): Detects wood studs and joists up to 1.5 inches (38mm) deep in drywall.
• Metal Scan: Detects metal pipes, rebar, and other metallic objects up to 2.36 inches (60mm) deep.
• AC Scan: Detects live unshielded AC wires up to 2 inches (51mm) deep.

5.3 Scanning Procedure

1. Place on Wall: Place the device flat against the wall surface where you intend to scan.
2. Calibrate: Press and hold the 'Scan' button (often the same as the power/mode button) for 1-2 seconds until calibration is complete.
3. Move Slowly: Slowly slide the device horizontally across the surface. Keep it flat against the wall.
4. Interpret Display: The LCD will show signal strength indicators. As you approach an object, the signal strength will increase, and an audible alarm will sound. The 'CENTER' indicator will illuminate when the center of a stud or object is detected.
5. Mark Location: Once an object is detected, mark its location on the wall. For studs, it is recommended to scan from both directions to confirm the edges and center.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Battery: Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
