1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Sanpyl 5K Action Camera. This camera is designed to capture your adventures in stunning 5K resolution, whether on land or underwater. Featuring a durable waterproof design, dual screens, and remote control capabilities, it is ideal for various sports and outdoor activities.

Please read this manual carefully before using the camera to ensure proper operation and to maximize its performance and lifespan.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1. Charging the Camera

The camera has a built-in 900mAh lithium-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the camera.

  1. Connect the provided USB Type-C data cable to the camera's Type-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. It will turn off or change color once charging is complete.

3.2. Inserting a Micro SD Card

A Micro SD card (not included) is required to store photos and videos. The camera supports Micro SD cards up to 256GB.

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the camera (refer to Image 3.1).
  2. Insert the Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing the back of the camera until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it springs out.

Note: For optimal performance, use a high-speed (Class 10 or UHS-I/UHS-3) Micro SD card from a reputable brand. Format the card in the camera before first use.

3.3. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power/Mode button (usually on the top or front) for a few seconds until the screen illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power/Mode button again for a few seconds until the screen turns off.

3.4. Remote Control Pairing

The camera supports a cordless remote control for convenient operation.

  1. Ensure the camera is powered on.
  2. Power on the remote control (if applicable, some remotes are always on or have a small power button).
  3. Navigate to the camera's settings menu and look for a 'Remote Control' or 'Pairing' option.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the remote control.

3.5. Wi-Fi Connection

Connect your camera to a smartphone via Wi-Fi for remote viewing, control, and file transfer.

  1. Download the official Sanpyl camera app from your smartphone's app store.
  2. On the camera, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Enable Wi-Fi. The camera screen will display the Wi-Fi SSID (e.g., "Sport-cameras") and Password (e.g., "1234567890").
  4. On your smartphone, go to Wi-Fi settings, find the camera's SSID, and connect using the provided password.
  5. Open the Sanpyl app to control your camera.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1. Basic Modes: Recording, Photo, Playback

Use the Mode button (often the same as the Power button, short press) to cycle through the main operating modes:

  • Video Recording Mode: Indicated by a video camera icon. Press the Shutter/OK button to start/stop recording.
  • Photo Mode: Indicated by a camera icon. Press the Shutter/OK button to take a photo.
  • Playback Mode: Indicated by a play icon. Use the Up/Down buttons to navigate through files and the Shutter/OK button to view.

4.2. Adjusting Video and Image Resolution

Access the camera's settings menu to change resolution options:

  • Video Resolutions: 5K (5120x2880p 30fps), 4K (3840x2160p60/30fps), 2.7K (2688x1520p60/30fps), 1080p (1920x1080p60/30fps), 720p (1280x720p120/60/30fps).
  • Image Resolutions: 50M, 30M, 24M, 20M, 12M, 8M, 5M.

Tip: Higher resolutions consume more storage space and battery life.

4.3. Using the Dual Color Screens

The camera features a 2.0-inch main screen and a 1.3-inch auxiliary screen.

  • The main screen is typically on the back and provides a larger view for framing shots and navigating menus.
  • The auxiliary screen (front-facing) is useful for vlogging or taking selfies, allowing you to see yourself while recording.

4.4. Waterproof Performance and Housing

  1. Select the appropriate helmet mount from the accessory kit.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning the Camera and Housing

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the camera lens and screens. Avoid abrasive materials.
  • For the waterproof housing, rinse with fresh water after each use, especially after saltwater exposure. Ensure no debris is trapped in the seals.
  • Allow all components to air dry completely before storing.

5.2. Battery Care

  • Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures, which can degrade battery performance.
  • For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Recharge the battery periodically if stored for extended periods to prevent deep discharge.

5.3. Storage

Store the camera and its accessories in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage from dust, moisture, and impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Camera Not Powering On

  • Ensure the battery is fully charged. Connect the camera to a power source and check the charging indicator.
