Setup
1. Powering the Device
The converter can be powered in two ways:
- USB Power: Connect the included USB cable from the converter to an available USB port on your computer.
- Battery Power: Insert two (2) AA batteries into the battery compartment located on the back of the device.
2. Connecting to a Computer
Connect the smaller end of the provided USB cable to the USB port on the converter and the larger end to an available USB 2.0 port on your PC or laptop. The device is plug-and-play, meaning no specific drivers are required for basic functionality.

3. Software Installation (Audacity)
The included Software CD contains Audacity, a free and open-source digital audio editor and recording application. This software is recommended for converting your cassette audio to MP3 format.
- Insert the Software CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install Audacity.
- Once installed, launch Audacity.
- In Audacity, ensure the USB Cassette Converter is selected as the input device. This is typically found in the audio settings or device preferences within the software.

Operating Instructions
1. Loading a Cassette Tape
- Gently slide the "OPEN" switch on the side of the converter to open the cassette compartment.

- Close the compartment firmly until it clicks into place.

2. Converting Tapes to MP3
- Ensure the converter is connected to your computer and Audacity software is running.
- Press the PLAY button on the cassette converter.
- In Audacity, click the Record button (usually a red circle icon) to begin recording the audio from the cassette.
- Allow the tape to play through the desired sections you wish to convert.
- Once finished, press the STOP button on both the cassette converter and in Audacity.
- In Audacity, you can now edit the recorded audio (e.g., trim silence, split tracks).

3. Playback
The converter itself does not have built-in speakers. To listen to your cassette tapes directly through the device:
- Plug the included headphones (or your own 3.5mm headphones) into the headphone jack on the side of the converter.
- Press the PLAY button to listen to the tape.
- Adjust the volume using the volume control dial on the side of the device.

Maintenance
