Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present. Inspect the machine for any damage. Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.

2. Water Tank Installation and Filling

  1. Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
  2. Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line (2.8L). Do not exceed the MAX line.
  3. Place the water tank back into its position, ensuring it is securely seated.

3. Bean Hopper Installation and Filling

  1. Place the bean hopper onto the grinder opening at the top of the machine. Ensure it locks into place.
  2. Fill the bean hopper with fresh, whole coffee beans.
  3. Adjust the grind setting by rotating the bean hopper. Refer to the 'Grinding Coffee' section for details.

4. Initial Cleaning and Priming

Before first use, it is recommended to run a few cycles of hot water through the machine without coffee to clean the internal components and prime the system.

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
  2. Insert the portafilter (without coffee) into the group head.
  3. Place a cup under the portafilter.
  4. Press the 'Power' button to turn on the machine.
  5. Once the machine is heated (indicator lights stable), press the 'Brew' button for a single shot to run hot water through. Repeat 2-3 times.
  6. Activate the steam wand to release any air and ensure it's ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Grinding Coffee

The integrated grinder offers 31 settings to achieve the perfect grind for your espresso.

  1. Ensure the bean hopper is filled with fresh coffee beans.
  2. Select your desired grind setting by rotating the bean hopper. Finer settings (0-10) are for slower extraction, while coarser settings (20-30) are for faster extraction. Medium settings (10-20) provide a balanced extraction.
  3. Place the portafilter under the grinder outlet.
  4. Press the 'Grind' button. You can choose between single shot, double shot, or manual grind modes.
  5. Once ground, use the included tamper to evenly compact the coffee in the portafilter.

2. Brewing Espresso

The machine features customizable brew settings and a pressure gauge for optimal espresso extraction.

  1. Insert the filled and tamped portafilter into the group head, twisting it firmly to lock.
  2. Place your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
  3. Select your desired brew mode: single shot (25-90ml), double shot (45-180ml), or manual shot.
  4. Press the 'Brew' button. The machine will begin pre-infusion, followed by extraction.
  5. Monitor the pressure gauge during extraction. The ideal pressure range is typically indicated in the green zone.
  6. For manual mode, press the 'Brew' button to start and again to stop extraction when the desired volume is reached.

3. Steaming Milk

The 360° swivel steam wand allows for easy milk frothing for lattes and cappuccinos.

  1. Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  2. Position the steam wand into the milk, just below the surface.
  3. Turn the steam/hot water selector knob to the steam position.
  4. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air for frothing, then submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk.
  5. Once the desired temperature and texture are achieved, turn the steam knob off and remove the pitcher.
  6. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

4. Hot Water Function

The machine can dispense hot water for tea or Americanos.

  1. Place a cup under the steam wand.
  2. Turn the steam/hot water selector knob to the hot water position.
  3. Hot water will dispense from the steam wand. Turn the knob back to the standby position to stop.

Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard the coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water.
  • Group Head: Wipe the group head with a damp cloth to remove any coffee residue.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after steaming milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge the wand briefly to clear any milk residue from the inside.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the 'Empty Me' indicator appears.

2. Cleaning the Grinder

The bean hopper and burr grinder are detachable for easy cleaning.

  1. Ensure the machine is off and unplugged.
  2. Remove the bean hopper.
  3. Remove the upper burr grinder. Use the provided cleaning brush to remove any loose coffee grounds.
  4. Wipe the bean hopper and grinder components with a dry cloth. Do not wash with water.
  5. Reassemble the grinder components and bean hopper.

3. Descaling

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine performance. The machine may have a 'Clean' indicator light to prompt descaling.

  1. Refer to the descaling solution manufacturer's instructions for proper dilution.
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
  4. Follow the specific descaling procedure outlined in the full product manual (usually involves running cycles through the brew head and steam wand).
  5. After descaling, rinse the water tank thoroughly and run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to remove any descaling solution residue.
