1. Overview
The GEYA GRT8-A2 is a single-function electronic time delay relay designed for precise time control in various industrial and scientific applications. This device features two selectable operating modes: power-on delay (Model A) and power-off delay (Model B). Its compact, 1-module design is suitable for 35mm DIN rail mounting, making it an ideal component for control panels and electrical enclosures. The relay's status is clearly indicated by an integrated LED.

2. Setup and Installation
2.1 Mounting
The GRT8-A2 relay is designed for easy installation on a standard 35mm DIN rail. Ensure the rail is securely fastened within your electrical enclosure. Simply clip the relay onto the DIN rail until it locks into place.
2.2 Wiring
Proper wiring is crucial for safe and correct operation. The relay supports a wide voltage range of AC/DC 12-240V or AC 230V. Refer to the wiring diagrams below for connection details. Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.
- Supply Terminals (A1, A2): Connect the power supply to these terminals.
- Trigger Terminal (S): Used for control input in certain modes.
- Output Contacts (15, 16, 18 for 1SPDT; 25, 26, 28 for 2SPDT):
- 15 (or 25): Common contact.
- 16 (or 26): Normally Closed (NC) contact.
- 18 (or 28): Normally Open (NO) contact.

Figure 3: Example wiring diagram for the GRT8-A2 model, showing connections for a load and signal light. Note that terminals 15-18 (25-28) are normally open (NO) and close after delay, while 15-16 (25-26) are normally closed (NC) and disconnect after delay.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Function Modes
The GRT8 series offers two primary function modes, selectable based on the specific model (GRT8-A for Delay ON, GRT8-B for Delay OFF). The GRT8-A2 model specifically supports the Delay ON function.
- Model A (Delay ON): After power-up, the relay begins its timing sequence. The output contacts will switch to their active state (e.g., NO closes) only after the set delay time has elapsed.
- Model B (Delay OFF): Upon power-up, the output contacts immediately switch to their active state. The timing sequence begins when the power is removed or a control input changes. The contacts will revert to their inactive state (e.g., NO opens) after the set delay time.

Figure 4: Illustration of Delay ON (Model A) and Delay OFF (Model B) functions. For Delay ON, the light turns on after the set delay. For Delay OFF, the light turns off after the set delay.
3.2 Time Setting
The delay time is set using two rotary knobs on the front panel:
- Knob 1 (Time Range Selection): This knob selects one of 10 time ranges, from 0.1 seconds up to 10 days. It also includes "only ON" and "only OFF" settings for continuous operation or immediate deactivation without delay.
- Knob 2 (Time Percentage Setting): This knob provides fine adjustment within the selected time range, from 10% to 100%.
To set the desired delay, first select the appropriate time range with Knob 1, then fine-tune the exact duration using Knob 2. For example, to set a 5-second delay, select the "10s" range with Knob 1 and set Knob 2 to 50%.

Figure 5: Guide on how to set the delay time using the two adjustment knobs. Knob 1 selects the time range, and Knob 2 adjusts the percentage within that range.
3.3 LED Indicators
The relay features two LED indicators for operational status:
- Green LED (Un): Indicates that the power supply is connected and the unit is receiving power.
- Red LED (R): Indicates the status of the output relay. It typically illuminates when the relay is active or during the timing period.
4. Maintenance
The GEYA GRT8-A2 time delay relay is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the relay with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off before cleaning.
- Environmental Conditions: Operate the relay within its specified temperature range of -20°C to +55°C (-4°F to 131°F). Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, dust, or corrosive environments.
- Connections: Regularly inspect wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or damage.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the relay, especially if installed in a confined enclosure, to prevent overheating.
No user-serviceable parts are inside the relay. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit, as this will void the warranty and may pose a safety risk.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your GEYA GRT8-A2 time delay relay, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Relay not activating/deactivating after delay. |
|
|
| Green LED (Un) is off. |
|
|
| Red LED (R) does not behave as expected. |
|
|
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact customer support or a qualified electrician.
