4. Setup and Installation
The forimo tankless water heater is designed for straightforward installation. However, professional installation is recommended to ensure compliance with local codes and safety standards.
4.1 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Verify that you have all necessary components and tools.
- Ensure the installation location provides adequate ventilation and is suitable for a natural gas appliance.
- Confirm that the gas supply and water supply lines are accessible and meet the required specifications.
4.2 Connection Guidelines
- The unit requires standard 1/2" NPT water fittings and a gas inlet connection.
- Install the provided 2.5" (Φ60mm) horizontal vent pipe to ensure proper exhaust of combustion gases to the outdoors.
- Connect the cold water inlet to the designated port and the hot water outlet to the other. If the hot and cold water pipes are reversed, the water heater will not respond when turned on. To identify pipes, turn on your pump and observe where the cold water originates.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your tankless water heater.
6.1 Cold Weather Precautions
- In cold weather, if the water heater is not used for an extended period, it is necessary to open the pressure relief valve to drain any residual water from the unit. This prevents freezing and potential damage to internal components.
6.2 General Cleaning
- Periodically wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the exhaust vent is clear of obstructions.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your tankless water heater.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No hot water / Unit not turning on | No gas supply, low water pressure, power issue, reversed water pipes. | Check gas valve, ensure minimum 3.6 PSI water pressure, verify power connection, confirm correct hot/cold water pipe connections. |
| Error message E5 | Solenoid valve malfunction. | This indicates an internal component issue. Contact customer support for assistance. |
| Water not heating sufficiently | Incorrect temperature setting, low gas pressure, excessive flow rate. | Adjust temperature setting, ensure adequate gas supply, reduce water flow if necessary. |
| Water leakage | Loose connections, damaged internal component (e.g., cracked pipe). | Inspect all connections for tightness. If an internal component is damaged, discontinue use and contact customer support. |
| Unit stops working automatically | Sensor malfunction, safety shutdown activated. | Check for error codes on the display. If persistent, contact customer support. |
