2. Setup
- Unpack and Clean: Remove all packaging materials. Place the brewer on a stable, level surface. Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. The drip tray and water reservoir can be washed with warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.
- Fill Water Reservoir: Remove the water reservoir lid, then lift the reservoir straight up from the brewer base. Fill the reservoir with fresh water up to the MAX fill line. Replace the reservoir, ensuring it is seated properly in the base. Replace the lid.
- Plug In: Plug the brewer into a grounded outlet. The power button will illuminate.
- Cleansing Brew: Perform a cleansing brew without a K-Cup pod. Place a large mug on the drip tray. Lift and lower the handle. The brew size buttons will flash. Select the 12 oz. brew size button. The brewer will dispense hot water. Discard the hot water. The brewer is now ready for use.

3. Operating Instructions
- Place Mug: Place a mug on the drip tray. If using a travel mug, remove the drip tray to accommodate taller mugs (up to 7.4 inches).
- Insert K-Cup Pod: Lift the brewer handle. Place a K-Cup pod in the K-Cup pod holder. Lower the handle completely to close the lid. The brew size buttons will flash.
- Select Brew Size: Choose your desired brew size: 8 oz, 10 oz, or 12 oz. The selected button will illuminate.
- Use Strong Brew (Optional): For a bolder cup, press the STRONG button before selecting your brew size. The STRONG button light will illuminate.
- Brew: The brewing process will begin automatically. Once the brew is complete, the lights will turn off. Lift the handle and dispose of the used K-Cup pod.

4. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Keurig K-Express brewer.
- Cleaning the Drip Tray: The drip tray can accumulate drips and spills. Remove the drip tray and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Cleaning the K-Cup Pod Holder: The K-Cup pod holder can be removed for cleaning. Lift the brewer handle, grasp the top of the K-Cup pod holder, and push up from the bottom until it releases. Wash with warm, soapy water. Pay attention to the exit needle on the inside bottom of the K-Cup pod holder. Ensure it is clear of any coffee grounds.
- Descaling: Over time, calcium deposits (scale) can build up in your brewer. The DESCALE indicator light will illuminate when it's time to descale. Refer to the full descaling instructions in the comprehensive user manual or Keurig's official website for detailed steps.
- Cleaning the Water Reservoir: Periodically clean the water reservoir with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
