5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning Your Desktop
- Exterior: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Vents: Regularly inspect and clean the air vents on the front, top, and rear of the chassis to prevent dust buildup. Use compressed air to gently blow dust out of the vents. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Interior (Advanced Users): For internal cleaning, it is recommended to consult a professional or refer to detailed guides. Opening the chassis may affect warranty.
5.2 Software Updates
- Windows Updates: Ensure Windows Update is enabled and regularly check for and install the latest operating system updates.
- Driver Updates: Use ASUS Armoury Crate or visit the official ASUS support website to download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card, chipset, and other components. Keeping drivers updated ensures optimal performance and stability.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ASUS ROG G13CH desktop.
6.1 No Display Output
- Check Monitor Cable: Ensure the video cable (HDMI/DisplayPort) is securely connected to both the monitor and the graphics card's output port on the desktop.
- Correct Port: Verify that the monitor cable is connected to the dedicated graphics card ports (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050) and not the integrated graphics ports on the motherboard.
- Monitor Input: Confirm your monitor is set to the correct input source (e.g., HDMI 1, DisplayPort).
- Power Cycle: Turn off both the desktop and monitor, unplug their power cables, wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in and power on.
6.2 System Freezes or Crashes (Blackscreens)
- Driver Updates: Ensure your graphics card drivers and chipset drivers are up-to-date. Use Armoury Crate or download directly from ASUS/NVIDIA websites.
- Temperature Monitoring: High temperatures can cause instability. Use Armoury Crate to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures. Ensure proper airflow and clean vents.
- Power Settings: Verify Windows power settings are configured for optimal performance and stability.
- System Files: Run Windows System File Checker (SFC) to check for corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow.
- Windows Updates: Ensure all Windows updates are installed.
6.3 Excessive Fan Noise
- Dust Buildup: Clean the air vents and internal components to remove dust that can impede airflow and cause fans to work harder.
- Performance Mode: Check the performance mode in Armoury Crate. Switching to "Silent" or "Balanced" mode may reduce fan speeds, though it might slightly impact performance.
- Ambient Temperature: Ensure the room temperature is not excessively high, as this can lead to higher internal temperatures and increased fan activity.
