Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee machine. Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.

  1. Daily Cleaning:
    • After each use, remove the glass carafe, lid, and filter basket. Wash them in warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher (if dishwasher-safe, refer to product specifications for material).
    • Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
    • Clean the warming plate with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  2. Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect performance. Descale your coffee machine regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, or more often in hard water areas).
    • Prepare a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions (e.g., white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaling agent).
    • Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
    • Run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds.
    • After the cycle, let the machine cool down for 15 minutes.
    • Run 2-3 cycles with clean water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Coffee does not brew. Machine not plugged in; power button not pressed; water reservoir empty; carafe not correctly placed. Ensure plug is secure; press power button; fill water reservoir; ensure carafe is centered on warming plate.
Coffee is too weak or too strong. Incorrect coffee-to-water ratio; coffee grounds too coarse/fine. Adjust coffee amount; use medium-ground coffee for best results.
Water overflows from filter basket. Too much coffee grounds; filter clogged; carafe not properly placed. Reduce coffee amount; clean filter basket; ensure carafe is correctly positioned.
Coffee is not hot enough. Warming plate not active; machine needs descaling. Ensure warming plate is on; descale the machine.
