3.2. Device Pairing (Connecting to a ZigBee Hub)

The IHSENO PIR3 Motion Sensor requires a compatible ZigBee hub (e.g., Tuya ZigBee Smart Life Hub or Tuya Bluetooth/WiFi Dual Gateway) to function. It cannot connect directly to Wi-Fi.

  1. Ensure your ZigBee hub is powered on and connected to your home network.
  2. Open the Smart Life or Tuya app on your smartphone.
  3. Add a new device in the app and select the motion sensor category.
  4. Follow the app's instructions to put the sensor into pairing mode. This usually involves pressing and holding the reset button on the sensor for a few seconds until an indicator light flashes.
  5. Once successfully paired, the sensor will appear in your app's device list.

3.3. Mounting the Sensor

The sensor can be placed on a flat surface or mounted on a wall using the included 3M adhesive tape. Consider the following for optimal placement:

  • Detection Range: The sensor has a maximum detection range of 5 meters and a 120-degree detection angle.
  • Height: For wall mounting, an ideal height is between 1.5 to 2 meters from the floor.
  • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure there are no large objects blocking the sensor's field of view.
  • Environmental Factors: Avoid placing the sensor near heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) or in areas with strong air currents (e.g., near air conditioners, windows) as these can cause false alarms.

Integrate the motion sensor with other compatible smart devices through the Smart Life or Tuya app to create automation routines. For example, you can set lights to turn on when motion is detected, or trigger a security alarm.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by 3x AAA batteries. The estimated battery life is 8-12 months. When the battery level is low, you may receive a notification via the app. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

  1. Open the back cover of the sensor.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert new AAA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity.
  4. Close the back cover.

5.2. Cleaning

Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Sensor not detecting motion:
    • Check battery level and replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the sensor's field of view is not obstructed.
    • Verify the sensor is within the effective range of the ZigBee hub.
    • Confirm the sensor is placed at an appropriate height and angle.
  • No app notifications:
    • Ensure your smartphone has an active internet connection.
    • Check app notification settings on your phone and within the Smart Life/Tuya app.
    • Verify the ZigBee hub is online and connected to the internet.
  • Sensor not pairing with hub:
    • Ensure the sensor is in pairing mode (indicator light flashing).
    • Confirm the ZigBee hub is in pairing mode.
    • Move the sensor closer to the hub during the pairing process.
    • Reset the sensor by pressing the reset button for 5-10 seconds and attempt pairing again.
    • Note: This sensor requires a ZigBee hub and cannot connect directly to Wi-Fi.
  • False alarms:
    • Relocate the sensor away from heat sources, direct sunlight, or strong air currents.
    • Ensure pets or moving objects are not within the detection zone.
