5. Maintenance
Cleaning:
- After each use, especially for ear measurements, clean the probe with an alcohol swab or a soft cloth moistened with alcohol.
- Ensure the sensor lens is clean and free of debris for accurate readings.
- Wipe the main body of the thermometer with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse the device in water.
Storage:
Store the thermometer in its soft storage pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the sensor lens is clean. Allow the thermometer to acclimate to room temperature for at least 30 minutes if it has been in a significantly different environment. For ear measurements, ensure the probe is correctly inserted and the ear canal is straightened.
- "LO" or "HI" Display: This indicates a temperature outside the measurable range. Ensure proper contact with the skin (forehead) or ear canal (ear).
- No Display/Device Not Turning On: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
- Repeated Use: Avoid taking measurements repeatedly within 10 seconds, as this can affect accuracy.
