3. Setup
3.1. Preparing for Installation
- Ensure you have a compatible CPU (LGA 1700 socket), DDR4 RAM, and a power supply.
- Gather necessary tools: Phillips-head screwdriver, anti-static wrist strap (recommended).
- Work on a clean, flat, and static-free surface.
3.2. CPU Installation
- Open the CPU socket lever and remove the protective cover.
- Carefully align the CPU with the socket, ensuring the triangular markers match. Do not force the CPU into the socket.
- Close the socket lever to secure the CPU.
- Apply thermal paste and install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.
3.3. RAM Installation
- Open the clips on both ends of the DDR4 DIMM slots.
- Align the RAM module with the slot, ensuring the notch on the module matches the key in the slot.
- Press down firmly on both ends of the RAM module until the clips snap into place.
3.4. Storage Device Installation
- M.2 SSD: Locate the M.2 slots. Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle and secure it with the provided screw.
- SATA Drives: Connect SATA data cables to the motherboard's SATA ports and to your SSDs/HDDs. Connect power cables from your PSU to the drives.
3.5. Power Supply Connection
- Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your PSU to the motherboard.
- Connect the 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) CPU power connector to the motherboard.
3.6. Front Panel Connections
- Connect the front panel headers (Power LED, HDD LED, Power Switch, Reset Switch) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard diagram for correct pin assignments.
- Connect front panel USB and audio cables.
4. Operating
4.1. First Boot
- After assembling all components, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
- Power on your system. The system should display the BIOS/UEFI screen.
- Access the BIOS/UEFI setup by pressing the designated key (usually Del or F2) during startup.
4.2. BIOS/UEFI Configuration
- Set the boot order to your preferred operating system installation media (USB drive or DVD).
- Configure other settings as needed, such as XMP profiles for RAM or fan curves.
- Save changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.
4.3. Operating System Installation
Follow the on-screen instructions to install your operating system. After installation, install all necessary drivers from the ASRock website or the provided driver CD/USB drive for optimal performance.
5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning
- Regularly clean dust from your PC case and motherboard components using compressed air.
- Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
5.2. BIOS/UEFI Updates
- Check the ASRock website for the latest BIOS/UEFI updates.
- Follow the instructions provided by ASRock carefully when updating the BIOS/UEFI to avoid system instability.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1. No Power/No Boot
- Check all power connections (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU) are securely seated.
- Ensure the power supply switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify front panel power switch connection to the motherboard.
6.2. No Display
- Confirm the monitor is connected to the correct graphics output (either integrated graphics on the motherboard or a dedicated graphics card).
- Reseat the RAM modules. Incorrectly seated RAM is a common cause of no display.
- If using a dedicated graphics card, ensure it is properly seated in the PCIe slot and has adequate power connections.
6.3. System Instability/Crashes
- Ensure all drivers are up to date.
- Check CPU and GPU temperatures to prevent overheating.
- Run memory diagnostic tools to check for faulty RAM.
