Setup
- Unboxing: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the packing contents are present.
- Placement: Place the grinder on a stable, flat, and dry surface. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and operation.
- Hopper Assembly: Securely attach the 12 oz bean hopper to the top of the grinder. Ensure it is properly seated and locked into place to prevent beans from spilling.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable 120 Volts electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
- Filling the Hopper: Lift the hopper lid and pour fresh coffee beans into the 12 oz hopper. Replace the lid securely.
- Adjusting Grind Size: Turn the micrometric adjustment knob to select your desired grind fineness. Turning clockwise typically results in a finer grind, while counter-clockwise results in a coarser grind. Make small adjustments and test the grind to achieve optimal results for your brewing method.
- Dosing: Place the Hand Brew dosing cup or your portafilter (if compatible) under the grind chute.
- Grinding: Press and hold the grind button located on the front of the unit. The grinder will operate as long as the button is held down, allowing for manual, on-demand dosing. Release the button to stop grinding.
- Collecting Grounds: Once grinding is complete, remove the dosing cup or portafilter. Tap gently to settle the grounds before brewing.

- Grind Chute: Use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove any residual coffee grounds from the grind chute.
- Burr Cleaning: The Filtro Silent features bottom-burr adjustment for easier cleaning. Consult the full user manual for detailed instructions on removing and cleaning the burrs. Ensure burrs are dry before reassembly.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the grinder with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Grinder not starting | Not plugged in; power switch off; hopper not correctly seated. | Check power connection; ensure power switch is on; reseat hopper securely. |
| Inconsistent grind | Burrs are dirty or worn; grind setting too coarse/fine. | Clean burrs; adjust grind setting incrementally. |
| Excessive static/messy grinding | Dry beans; static buildup in grind path. | Lightly mist beans with water before grinding (RDT method); ensure grind path is clean. |
| Grinder is unusually loud | Foreign object in burrs; burrs misaligned. | Unplug and inspect burrs for obstructions; consult manual for burr alignment. |
