SignalBrick KT1 Cell Phone Booster User Manual

Model: KT1

1. Introduction

The SignalBrick KT1 Cell Phone Booster is designed to enhance cellular signal reception for mobile use in trucks, RVs, and other vehicles. It supports 5G, 4G LTE, and 3G signals across various bands (4, 66, 12, 13, 17, 5, 2, 25) and is compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

This device works by capturing weak outdoor signals, amplifying them, and then rebroadcasting the stronger signal inside your vehicle, leading to fewer dropped calls, improved voice quality, faster data speeds, and enhanced hotspot capability.

4. Safety Information

Please read and follow all safety instructions to prevent damage to the device or injury.

  • Ensure proper ventilation for the booster unit.
  • Use only the provided power adapter.
  • Keep the device away from water and excessive heat.
  • Do not attempt to open or modify the booster unit. This will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Maintain a minimum separation distance between the outdoor and indoor antennas to prevent oscillation (feedback).
  • This is a CONSUMER device. Before use, you MUST REGISTER THIS DEVICE with your wireless provider and have your provider's consent. Most wireless providers consent to the use of signal boosters. If you are unsure, contact your provider.
  • BEFORE USE you must meet all requirements set out in ISED CPI-01-05.
  • Antennas MUST be installed at least 20 cm (8 inches) from any person.
  • You MUST cease operating this device immediately if requested by the FCC or a licensed wireless service provider.
  • WARNING: E911 location information may not be provided or may be inaccurate for calls served by using this device.

5. Setup and Installation

The installation process is designed to be straightforward. Follow these steps for optimal performance.

5.1. Outdoor Antenna Placement

The outdoor antenna should be mounted in a location where it can receive the strongest possible existing cellular signal. This is typically on the roof or highest point of your vehicle, away from obstructions. The omni-directional design allows it to capture signals from all directions.

  • Mount the outdoor antenna securely using the provided mounting kit.
  • Ensure the antenna is as vertical as possible.
  • Route the cable from the outdoor antenna into the vehicle, ensuring it is protected from damage and moisture.

5.2. Indoor Antenna Placement

The indoor antenna broadcasts the boosted signal inside your vehicle. It should be placed where you need the signal most, typically near your mobile devices. Crucially, the indoor antenna must be physically separated from the outdoor antenna to prevent signal feedback (oscillation), which can cause the booster to shut down or perform poorly.

  • Mount the indoor antenna in a central location within the vehicle's cabin.
  • Maximize the vertical and horizontal distance between the indoor and outdoor antennas. Using the vehicle's metal structure as a barrier can also help.

5.3. Booster Unit Connection

Connect the outdoor antenna cable to the "Outdoor" port on the booster unit and the indoor antenna cable to the "Indoor" port. Ensure all connections are finger-tight.

5.4. Power Connection

Once both antennas are connected to the booster unit, connect the DC power adapter to the booster and then plug it into your vehicle's 12V power outlet.

  • The booster will power on automatically. Observe the indicator lights on the booster unit.
  • If the lights indicate an issue (e.g., red light for oscillation), adjust antenna separation.

6. Operating Instructions

The SignalBrick KT1 booster operates automatically once powered on. Its effectiveness is directly related to the strength of the outdoor signal it receives.

6.1. Signal Requirements

The booster cannot generate cellular signal; it amplifies existing signal. For the device to function properly, there must be at least 1 bar of usable signal outside the vehicle where the outdoor antenna is located.

6.2. Coverage Area

The coverage radius of the indoor antenna depends on the strength of the outdoor signal:

Outdoor Signal StrengthIndoor Coverage Radius
Strong (5 bars on cellphone)Approximately 10 ft
Medium (3-4 bars on cellphone)Approximately 5 ft
Weak (1-2 bars on cellphone)Approximately 3 ft

Image 6.1: Booster performance based on outdoor signal strength.

For optimal performance, ensure your mobile device is within the effective coverage radius of the indoor antenna.

7. Maintenance

The SignalBrick KT1 requires minimal maintenance. Keep the unit and antennas clean and free from debris. Regularly check cable connections for tightness and ensure the outdoor antenna remains securely mounted, especially after traveling on rough terrain.

Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on any components.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal Boost / Weak Signal:
    • Ensure there is at least 1 bar of existing cellular signal outside the vehicle. The booster cannot create signal where none exists.
    • Check all cable connections to ensure they are secure.
    • Verify the outdoor antenna is mounted in the best possible location for signal reception.
    • Increase the separation distance between the outdoor and indoor antennas.
    • Ensure the indoor antenna is positioned within the vehicle's cabin where signal is desired.
  • Booster Lights Indicate Error (e.g., Red Light):
    • This often indicates oscillation (feedback) between the indoor and outdoor antennas.
    • Increase the physical separation between the two antennas.
    • Ensure there are physical barriers (like the vehicle's metal roof) between the antennas.
    • If the issue persists, try repositioning one or both antennas slightly.
  • Power Issue:
    • Check if the 12V power outlet in your vehicle is functioning.
    • Ensure the DC power adapter is securely connected to both the booster and the power outlet.

If you continue to experience issues after following these troubleshooting steps, please contact SignalBrick customer support.
