  • Always remove the fuel tank from the boat before filling.
  • Ensure the tank is placed on a stable, level surface during filling.
  • Do not overfill the tank. Leave space for fuel expansion.
  • Always ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened after filling to prevent leaks.
  • Keep away from open flames, sparks, and other ignition sources.
  • Store the fuel tank in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
  • Regularly inspect the tank and fuel lines for any signs of damage or leaks. Replace components as necessary.
  • This tank is designed for gasoline only. Do not use for other liquids.

2. Product Overview

The Attwood EPA and CARB Certified 6-Gallon Portable Marine Boat Fuel Tank with Gauge is designed for reliable and safe fuel storage and delivery for marine applications. This durable tank features a built-in fuel gauge for convenient monitoring of fuel levels.

Key Features:

  • Capacity: 6-gallon (24 Liters)
  • Certification: EPA and CARB compliant for safe use.
  • Integrated Fuel Gauge: Allows for easy monitoring of fuel levels.
  • Durable Construction: Made from robust materials for marine environments.
  • Vented Cap: Designed to safely release pressure build-up.

3. Setup

  1. Unpack the Tank: Carefully remove the fuel tank and any accessories from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Attach Fuel Line Connector: The tank is equipped with a quick-connect fitting for your fuel line. Ensure your fuel line has the corresponding connector. Push the fuel line connector firmly onto the tank's port until it clicks into place.
  3. Fill the Tank: Before filling, remove the tank from your boat. Unscrew the fuel cap counter-clockwise. Use a funnel to pour gasoline into the tank, ensuring not to overfill. Replace the cap and tighten clockwise until secure.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Connect to Engine: Once the tank is filled and secured in your boat, connect the other end of your fuel line to your outboard engine's fuel intake port.
  2. Vent the Cap: Before starting the engine, ensure the vent screw on the fuel cap is open to allow air to enter the tank as fuel is drawn out. This prevents a vacuum from forming and ensures proper fuel flow.
  3. Prime the Fuel System: Squeeze the primer bulb on your fuel line until it feels firm. This indicates that fuel has reached the engine.
  4. Monitor Fuel Level: Use the integrated fuel gauge to keep track of your fuel level during operation.

5. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the tank periodically with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the plastic.
  • Inspect Fuel Lines: Regularly check fuel lines and connectors for cracks, leaks, or signs of wear. Replace damaged components immediately.
  • Fuel Filter: Some fuel lines may include an inline fuel filter. Inspect and clean or replace this filter as needed to ensure optimal fuel flow.
  • Storage: When storing the tank for extended periods, ensure it is empty or filled with fresh, stabilized fuel. Close the vent screw on the cap and store the tank in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Engine Not Starting/Poor Performance: Check if the fuel line is securely connected and the primer bulb is firm. Ensure the fuel cap vent is open. Inspect fuel lines and filter for clogs or damage.
  • Tank Swelling: Tank swelling is normal due to fuel vapor expansion, especially in warm conditions. The tank's vented cap is designed to release pressure. Ensure the vent screw is open during operation. If swelling is excessive, manually release pressure by briefly opening the vent screw.
  • Fuel Leaks: Check all connections, including the fuel cap and quick-connect fittings, for tightness. Replace any worn or damaged seals or O-rings.
