5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for initial setup of your water transfer pump:

  1. Install Base: Securely attach the pump to its base for stability.
  2. Install Filter: Connect the suction filter to the inlet hose. Ensure the hose clamp is tightened to prevent leaks.
  3. Connect Water Pipe: Attach the inlet hose to the pump's intake port (marked with an arrow pointing towards the pump) and the discharge hose to the outlet port (marked with an arrow pointing away from the pump). Both ports accept 3/4" garden hose threads.
  4. Connect to Power: Choose your power source. For cordless operation, insert the charged 20V battery into the battery compartment. For AC operation, connect the power adapter to the pump and plug it into a 120VAC outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

The POPULO Hybrid Water Transfer Pump offers flexible power options and efficient water transfer capabilities.

6.1. Powering the Pump (AC/DC Hybrid)

The pump can be powered by either a 20V Lithium battery or a 120VAC power adapter.

6.2. Priming the Pump

The pump is self-priming with a suction lift up to 6 feet. To ensure smooth operation, especially during initial use or after extended storage, it is recommended to drip the provided priming oil into the cavity from the water intake port before use. This helps reduce noise and extends the pump's lifespan.

6.3. Water Transfer

Place the suction filter end of the inlet hose into the water source. Direct the discharge hose to the desired location for water transfer. Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position. The pump will begin transferring water. The pump can achieve a maximum flow of 325 GPH and a maximum head lift of 45 feet.

6.4. Dry-Running Automatic Shutdown

The pump is equipped with a Dry-Running Automatic Shutdown Function. This feature automatically turns off the pump when there is no water flow, protecting the motor from damage due to dry operation. This extends the pump's life and prevents potential repairs.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your pump.

  • Lubrication: Periodically apply the provided priming oil (or a suitable lubricating oil) into the water intake port to maintain smooth running and reduce noise.
  • Filter Cleaning: Regularly inspect and clean the suction filter to prevent blockages and ensure efficient water intake.
  • Storage: After use, especially before long-term storage, ensure the pump is drained of all water. Store the pump in a dry, protected area.

8. Troubleshooting

Refer to the LED indicator modes for quick diagnosis of common issues:

Image: LED Indicator Modes for troubleshooting.

  • LED ON: The pump is ready to operate.
  • LED DIMLY LIT: Indicates the pump is overheating. Allow the pump to cool down before resuming operation. Check for obstructions or prolonged dry running.
  • LED PULSING: Indicates the pump is overloading. Check for blockages in the hoses or impeller, or if the pump is attempting to move liquids thicker than water.
  • LED FLASHING: Indicates low voltage. If operating on battery, recharge or replace the battery. If operating on AC, check the power supply.
  • No Water Flow: Ensure the inlet hose is fully submerged and free of air pockets. Check for blockages in the filter or hoses. Confirm the pump is primed.
