3. Assembly Instructions
The Featherlite Comet chair is designed for easy DIY assembly. Follow these step-by-step instructions for quick and hassle-free setup.
- Attach Casters to Base: Insert each of the five casters into the holes at the end of each leg of the 5-star chair base. Push firmly until they click into place.
- Insert Gas Lift: Place the gas lift cylinder into the central hole of the assembled chair base. Ensure it sits securely.
- Attach Mechanism to Seat: Align the mechanism plate with the screw holes on the underside of the seat cushion. Secure it using the provided screws and Allen key. Ensure the front of the mechanism faces the front of the seat.
- Attach Armrests: Secure the armrests to the sides of the seat cushion using the designated screws. Ensure they are oriented correctly.
- Attach Backrest: Connect the backrest to the seat assembly. Align the mounting points and secure with the remaining screws.
- Connect Seat to Gas Lift: Carefully place the assembled seat and backrest onto the gas lift cylinder, ensuring the central hole of the mechanism plate aligns with the top of the gas lift.

The chair features a 90° single lock recline mechanism. Pull the recline lock lever out to allow the backrest to recline, and push it in to lock the backrest at a 90° angle. Adjust the recline tension by rotating the knob located beneath the seat. Rotate clockwise to increase tension (firmer recline) and counter-clockwise to decrease tension (easier recline).
