Quictent 13'x20' Retractable Carport Instruction Manual

Model: 6602

1. Safety Information

Please read and understand all instructions before assembly and use of the Quictent Retractable Carport. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Secure Anchoring: Always ensure the carport is securely anchored to the ground. Inadequate anchoring can lead to the structure becoming unstable, especially in windy conditions. Consider using heavy-duty anchors beyond those supplied for increased stability.
  • Wind and Weather: Exercise extreme caution in windy, snowy, or severe weather conditions. The carport is designed for general shelter but may require additional reinforcement or temporary disassembly in harsh weather. Remove accumulated snow promptly to prevent structural collapse.
  • Fire Hazard: Keep all heat sources and open flames away from the carport fabric. The material is not fireproof.
  • Assembly: Assembly should be performed by at least two adults. Wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves, during assembly.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all components for wear, damage, or loose connections. Replace damaged parts immediately.

2. Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, verify that all components listed below are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact Quictent customer support.

  • Steel Frame Components (various poles and connectors)
  • 420D Oxford Fabric Cover
  • Sidewalls with Transparent Windows
  • Sliding Door Curtains
  • Movable Universal Wheels
  • Anchoring Pegs and Ropes
  • Elastic Ropes/Bungees
  • Assembly Hardware and Tools (if included)

3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for proper assembly of your Quictent Retractable Carport. It is recommended to have at least two people for assembly.

3.1 Site Preparation

  • Choose a level area for installation, free from overhead obstructions and sharp objects.
  • Clear the area of debris and ensure adequate space for the 13'x20' footprint.

3.2 Frame Assembly

  1. Unpack all steel frame components and lay them out. Identify each part according to the included parts diagram (if available).
  2. Begin by connecting the base frame sections. Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. Assemble the vertical support poles and attach them to the base frame.
  4. Construct the retractable X-shaped bracket system for the roof. This system allows the carport to be unfolded or folded.
  5. Attach the roof frame components, ensuring the X-shaped reinforcement bars are correctly installed for stability.

This image illustrates the retractable steel frame, which can be expanded for full use or collapsed for compact storage. The unfolded state shows the full structure, while the folded state demonstrates its space-saving capability.

3.3 Wheel Installation

  • Attach the movable universal wheels to the carport legs. Ensure they are securely fastened.
  • The wheels are designed for use on both concrete and grass surfaces.

This image highlights the universal wheels, which allow the carport to be moved freely. It shows the wheel's 360-degree rotation capability and its compatibility with both grass and concrete surfaces.

3.4 Cover and Sidewall Attachment

  1. Drape the 420D Oxford fabric cover over the assembled roof frame. Secure it using the provided elastic ropes or bungees, ensuring a snug fit.
  2. Attach the sidewalls, including those with transparent windows, to the frame. Use the provided fasteners to secure them.
  3. Install the sliding door curtains at the designated entry points.

3.5 Anchoring

  • Once the carport is fully assembled, use the provided anchoring pegs and ropes to secure the structure to the ground.
  • For enhanced stability, especially in areas prone to strong winds, consider purchasing additional heavy-duty ground anchors and securing straps.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Retracting and Unfolding the Carport

The carport features a retractable steel frame for flexible use.

  • To Unfold: Gently pull the frame outwards from its folded position until it fully extends. Ensure all locking mechanisms (if present) engage securely.
  • To Fold: Release any locking mechanisms and push the frame inwards until it collapses into its compact form.

4.2 Using Movable Wheels

The universal wheels allow for easy repositioning of the carport.

  • To move the carport, ensure the wheels are unlocked (if they have locking brakes).
  • Gently push or pull the carport to its desired location.
  • Once in position, engage any wheel locks to prevent unintended movement.

4.3 Sliding Door Curtains

The carport is equipped with sliding door curtains for convenient access.

  • The door curtains can be opened by sliding them to either side along the curtain steel rope.
  • To close, slide the curtains back to the center and secure them with any provided fasteners.

This image demonstrates the functionality of the sliding door curtain, showing how it can be opened to both sides without needing to be rolled up, offering convenient access.

4.4 Rollable Window Covers

Transparent windows are fitted with rollable covers for privacy and weather protection.

  • To Open (View): Roll up the window cover and secure it at the top using the attached ties or fasteners.
  • To Close (Privacy/Protection): Unroll the cover down over the window and secure it at the bottom.

This image illustrates how the rollable window covers function. They can be rolled up to allow light and visibility or rolled down to provide privacy and additional protection from the elements.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan of your Quictent Carport.

  • Cleaning the Fabric: Clean the 420D Oxford fabric cover and sidewalls periodically with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the material's waterproof and UV-resistant properties. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before folding or storing.
  • Frame Inspection: Annually inspect the steel frame for any signs of rust, bending, or damage. Tighten any loose bolts or connections. Apply rust-preventative paint to any scratched areas on the steel.
  • Anchoring Check: Regularly check the ground anchors and ropes to ensure they remain secure, especially after strong winds or heavy rain. Re-tension ropes as needed.
  • Winter Care: In areas with heavy snowfall, regularly remove snow accumulation from the roof to prevent excessive weight and potential collapse. The carport has a maximum snow load of 250KG.

This image shows the carport with a layer of snow on its roof, indicating its design to withstand a certain snow load (up to 250KG). Regular snow removal is still recommended for optimal longevity.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Carport Instability: If the carport feels unstable, re-check all frame connections and ensure all anchoring points are firmly secured to the ground. Consider adding additional heavy-duty anchors.
  • Difficulty Retracting/Unfolding: Ensure no parts of the fabric are snagged in the frame. Lubricate moving parts of the retractable mechanism if necessary.
  • Zipper Issues: If zippers on the door curtains are stiff or difficult to operate, clean them and apply a silicone-based lubricant. Avoid forcing zippers, as this can cause damage.
  • Water Leakage: While the fabric is waterproof, prolonged exposure or extreme conditions can sometimes lead to minor leaks. Inspect the cover for tears or worn areas. Ensure the cover is taut to prevent water pooling.
  • Missing Parts: If you discover missing parts during assembly, refer to the warranty and support section to contact customer service for replacements.
