Setup

Charging the Battery

The RB47 radios are equipped with a 1000mAh Li-ion battery, providing approximately 10-12 hours of normal operation. A low battery alert will notify you when charging is required. To charge:

  1. Place the radio into the charging base.
  2. Connect the USB C charging cable to the charging base and a power source.
  3. Ensure the radio is properly seated in the charging base to engage the charging contacts. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status.

Operating Instructions

Basic Communication

  1. Power On: Rotate the power/volume knob clockwise until you hear a click and the radio announces the channel.
  2. Select Channel: Use the Channel + or Channel - buttons to select your desired channel. Ensure all radios you wish to communicate with are on the same channel.
  3. Transmit: Press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.

VOX (Voice Activated Transmission)

The VOX function allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button.

Maintenance

IP67 Waterproofing

The Retevis RB47 radios are IP67 waterproof, protecting them from dust and water immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. This makes them suitable for use in harsh weather conditions like rain and storms.

  • Always ensure the waterproof cover of the earpiece jack is securely installed or fixed to prevent water damage.
