2.2 Battery Installation and Charging
Install the provided Li-ion battery into the radio. The UV-16R supports direct charging via a Type-C cable, offering convenience from various power sources like power banks, PCs, or car chargers. It can also be charged using the included charger base.

2.3 Antenna and Accessories Attachment
Attach the original antenna by screwing it clockwise onto the top connector until secure. The belt clip can be screwed onto the back of the radio for easy carrying. Attach the sling for additional portability.

3. Basic Operation
3.1 Power On/Off and Volume
To power on the radio, rotate the top knob clockwise. Continue rotating to adjust the volume. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
3.2 Channel Selection and Dual Watch
The radio features 128 channels. Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate through channels. The Dual Watch and Sync Switchable function allows monitoring two channels simultaneously. This is particularly useful for users who wish to see both channel name and frequency information on the display.
3.3 Push-to-Talk (PTT)
Press and hold the large button on the left side of the radio to transmit. Release the button to receive.
3.4 Flashlight and FM Radio
The UV-16R includes an LED high-power torch with constant light and flash light modes for night vision. It also has a built-in FM radio function for entertainment.

The UV-16R is compatible with CHIRP software for programming custom frequencies and settings. A programming cable is included for this purpose.

5.1 Water Resistance
The UV-16R has an IP45 waterproof/water-resistant rating, providing protection against dust and rain. While designed to withstand accidental splashes and light rain, it is not recommended for submersion.

- Poor Reception/Transmission: Verify the antenna is securely attached. Check the selected frequency/channel. Ensure you are within the effective communication range.
- Audio Issues: Adjust the volume. Ensure the speaker is not obstructed.
- Programming Problems: Ensure the programming cable is correctly connected and the CHIRP software is properly configured.
