3. Parts of the Radio

  1. Telescopic Antenna: Extends for improved FM reception.
  2. Frequency Tuning Dial: Used to select the desired radio station.
  3. AM/FM Switch: Toggles between AM and FM frequency bands.
  4. Power/Volume Knob: Turns the radio on/off and adjusts the volume level.
  5. Headphone Port (3.5mm): For connecting headphones for private listening.
  6. Battery Compartment: Holds 2 AA batteries.
  7. Hand Strap: For secure and convenient carrying.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Benss radio operates on two (2) AA batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the cover downwards or lift it gently to open.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.

Note: Always use fresh batteries and remove them if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  1. To turn the radio ON, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise. You will hear a click, and the power indicator light may illuminate.
  2. Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the volume.
  3. Rotate the knob counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
  4. To turn the radio OFF, rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

5.2 Selecting AM/FM Band

Use the AM/FM Switch located on the side of the radio to select your desired frequency band:

  • Slide the switch to 'FM' for FM broadcasts.
  • Slide the switch to 'AM' for AM broadcasts.

5.3 Tuning Stations

  1. Once the radio is on and the band is selected, slowly rotate the Frequency Tuning Dial (located on the side) to scan for stations.
  2. The frequency display on the front will show the current frequency.
  3. Stop rotating when you find a clear signal for your desired station.

5.4 Antenna Adjustment for Optimal Reception

  • For FM reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully and adjust its angle and direction for the best signal clarity.
  • For AM reception, the radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna. Try rotating the entire radio for optimal signal strength. The telescopic antenna is not typically used for AM.

5.5 Using Headphones

For private listening, plug any standard 3.5mm stereo headphones into the Headphone Port on the side of the radio. The built-in speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

6. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Batteries: Remove batteries if the radio is not used for extended periods to prevent corrosion.
  • Water Exposure: This radio is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.
  • Impact: Avoid dropping the radio or subjecting it to strong impacts.

7. Troubleshooting
