ZKTOOL Universal Fuel Injector Cleaner and Tester Kit

Introduction

The ZKTOOL Universal Fuel Injector Cleaner and Tester Kit is designed for diagnosing and cleaning fuel injectors in gasoline cars and motorcycles. This tool helps identify and resolve common injector issues such as blockages, leaks, damage, and professional exhaustion. It features 8 pulse modes, 12V/5V output options, and the ability to test two injectors simultaneously, making it compatible with both EFI and GDI injectors.

Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when working with automotive systems. This device incorporates several safety features:

• Input Reverse Polarity Protection: Prevents damage to the device if the power cables are connected incorrectly to the battery.
• Output Short Circuit Protection: Protects the device and connected injectors from damage in case of a short circuit. If an injector is damaged or a short circuit occurs, the LED indicator will activate an alarm.

Ensure proper ventilation when using cleaning fluids. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and gloves.

1. DC Input Port (12V): Connects to the vehicle's 12V battery.
2. Working Mode Indication Window: Displays the currently selected pulse mode.
3. Output Status Indicator Light: Indicates the status of the pulse output.
4. Power Indicator + Short Circuit Protection Indicator: Shows power status and alerts to short circuits.
5. Pulse Output Button: Initiates the pulse signal to the injectors.
6. Mode Selection Button: Cycles through the 8 available pulse modes.
7. Battery Clamp: Connects the device to the vehicle battery.
8. Pulse Output Terminal: Connects to the fuel injectors.

Setup

1. Prepare the Work Area: Ensure a well-ventilated area, free from flammable materials.
2. Connect Power: Connect the red battery clamp to the positive (+) terminal of a 12V vehicle battery and the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal. The power indicator light should illuminate.
3. Prepare Injectors: Disconnect the fuel injectors from the vehicle's fuel rail and electrical harness. Ensure they are clean externally before testing or cleaning.
4. Connect Injectors: Connect the injector(s) to the pulse output terminals of the tester. The device supports simultaneous testing of two injectors.
5. For Cleaning: Attach the appropriate cleaning adapter to the injector. Securely connect a can of fuel injector cleaning fluid to the adapter.

Operating Instructions

Pulse Modes Selection

The device offers 8 pulse modes for various testing and cleaning scenarios. Use the Mode Selection Button (6) to cycle through these modes. The selected mode will be displayed in the Working Mode Indication Window (2).

• Mode 0: Standby state, no output.
• Mode 1: Single pulse low power mode.
• Mode 2: Short pulse low power mode.
• Mode 3: Long pulse low power mode.
• Mode 4: Continuous pulse low power mode.
• Mode 5: Single pulse high power mode.
• Mode 6: Short pulse high power mode.
• Mode 7: Long pulse high power mode.
• Mode 8: Continuous pulse high power mode.

Injector Testing

1. Select a suitable pulse mode (e.g., Mode 3 or 7 for longer pulses to observe spray pattern).
2. Press the Pulse Output Button (5) to activate the pulse signal.
3. Observe the injector's spray pattern, atomization, and check for any leaks. Compare the performance of multiple injectors if testing simultaneously.
4. Repeat with different pulse modes as needed to thoroughly assess injector function.

Injector Cleaning

1. Ensure the injector is connected to the cleaning adapter and cleaning fluid.
2. Select a continuous pulse mode (e.g., Mode 4 or 8) for thorough cleaning.
3. Press the Pulse Output Button (5) to activate the cleaning process. The cleaning fluid will be pulsed through the injector.
4. Allow the cleaning fluid to flow for several minutes, observing the spray pattern for improvement.
5. Repeat the cleaning process as necessary until the desired spray pattern and atomization are achieved.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: After each use, wipe the device and cables with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Store the ZKTOOL injector cleaner and tester in its provided carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cable and pulse output cables for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace if necessary.

Troubleshooting

• No Power Indicator Light:
  • Check battery clamp connections to ensure they are secure and correctly polarized (+ to +, - to -).
  • Verify the vehicle battery has sufficient charge (12V).
• LED Alarm Activates:
  • This indicates an injector is damaged or a short circuit has occurred in the pulse output. Immediately disconnect the injector(s) and inspect them for faults.
  • Ensure there are no accidental short circuits in the wiring or connections.
• No Pulse Output:
  • Ensure a pulse mode (Mode 1-8) is selected, not Mode 0 (Standby).
  • Press the Pulse Output Button (5) firmly.
  • Check connections to the injector.
